Almanac of Palia

Romance is a mechanic in Palia between The Player and Villagers.

Mechanics

Two speech bubbles containing dialogue options: "Chat with Reth" and below it, "Flirt with Reth".
2. The "flirt" option that appears after unlocking romance with a villager.

Romancing a Villager is possible if they are eligible and you have raised your Friendship with the chosen Villager to Level 3 or higher, and with additional requirements in some cases.

To start a romance gift them a Box of Chocolates Box of Chocolates or a Heartdrop Lily Heartdrop Lily. This will unlock the Romance progress bar and questline for the Villager, and raising the Romance level with them will eventually result in the Player receiving their Villager Pin. You can romance as many of the eligible Villagers as you want, with no negative repercussions, other than perhaps some negative dialogue.

Raising a villager's Romance level can only be done through flirting with them once per Palian day, or by gifting them a Box of Chocolates Box of Chocolates or a Heartdrop Lily Heartdrop Lily once per real-life week. Gifting them any other gifts, even loved ones, will only raise their Friendship.

Receiving a villager pin will complete the accomplishment What Brings us Together.

Additionally, starting a romance with a villager will introduce new voice lines and dialogue options, as well as unlock additional voice lines and dialogue once reaching Romance level 3.
