Guide:Cake Party
Comments: This guide was written for an older version of Palia and may be missing some information
Premise
A Cake Party is a gathering of players in one player (the host's) housing plot to make Celebration Cake.
The host sets up stations for each ingredient for the cake, which each guest will stand at to fulfill their role in the party. As long as someone helps out in cooking an item, they get the full reward as if they cooked it all themselves.
With Celebration Cakes, there are 15 individual steps where if any one person does any of them, they get 3 cakes out of it. When someone is hosting a cake party for 50 cakes, it means you need 50 sets of ingredients for your role. You will get (50 cakes baked) x (3 per round) = 150 Celebration Cake in total from the party. All values below are based on a cake party for 50 sets of ingredients.
Result
All bakers get 150 cakes.
- If you vendor them, you should get between 22,050 Gold and 39,300 Gold.
- If you put them through Worm Farms, you should get between 25,500 Gold and 42,000 Gold.
- If you put them through Glow Worm Farms, you should get between 24,000 Gold and 39,750 Gold.
Roles and materials needed for 50 cakes (150 total)
- One person with:
- 50 Blueberries
- This person is the starter. They need the Celebration Cake recipe.
- Four people (leafers) each with:
- 50 Sweet Leaf
- Three people (batterers) each with:
- One person (froster) with:
- Three people (fruit frosters) each with:
- Three people (bakers) to work the ovens. They need to be capable of clicking a button.
- Three people (spreaders) to spread the fruit frosting.
- This role may be covered by the bakers as neither role require any ingredients.
Optional Roles
Overproducers are folks that make an extra item for the recipe that are not actually needed. For example, if an overproducing leafer creates a crushed sweet leaf that is not used, they still get the cakes.
Procedure
- The Starter starts the recipe with:
- Don't forget to check the star quality checkbox
- The Leafers ground:
- Makes 4 Ground Sweet Leaf total.
- The Batterers create Cake Batter from:
- 1 Ground Sweet Leaf
- 1 Butter
- 1 Egg
- 1 Flour
- Makes 3 Cake Batter total.
- It's best if the Batterers lock their milk in the Lockbox Storage Chest to avoid making extra Frosting.
- The Froster creates Frosting from:
- 1 Milk
- 1 Butter
- 1 Ground Sweet Leaf
- The Bakers can bake Cake Layer from:
- Makes 3 Cake Layer total.
- The Fruit Frosters create Fruit Frosting from:
- 1 Sugar
- 1 Apple or 1 Blueberries
- Makes 3 Fruit Frosting total.
- The Spreaders creates Jellied Cake Layer from:
- Makes 3 Jellied Cake Layer total.
- The Starter combines it all together and collects the cake.
- Repeat!
General Notes
After patch 0.169, there were many changes to cake party profits regarding both direct vendor price and cakes put through worm farms/glow worm farms.
Depending on the kind and quality of the fruit used, you will obtain cakes that vendor for between 147 Gold and 262 Gold each. Star quality cakes sell for 1.58x normal ones. Before the 0.169 update, a player could maximize profit by placing a cake in a worm bin and selling the produced worms and fertilizer.
- Cakes made with 3 Blueberry Jam would create 10 Glow Worm and 27 SpeedyGro Fertilizer each.
- Cakes made with 3 Apple Jam created 13 Glow Worm and 32 SpeedyGro Fertilizer each.
- Cakes made with mixed jam types were somewhere in between.
Putting cakes through regular Worm Farms was also an option to increase their value. Using regular Worm Farms, you would get between 55 and 65 Worms and between 55 and 65 HarvestBoost Fertilizer. Each sold for 5 Gold so you get up to 97,500 Gold from this method. The reason everyone recommends Glow Worm Farms over Worm Farms is because the Worm Farms completed jobs section fills up in 4 or 5 hours. The Glow Worm Farms completed job's section will last nearly 3 times as long before it needs to be emptied.
With Glow Worm Farms, if you have 3 jammers using Blueberry Jam, you get 78,000g out of the possible 96,750g that you'd get from using Apple Jam. It is fair for groups to require the jammers to only use Apple Jam because that is what increases the value in the eyes of a worm. Again, the worms do not care if it's a gold star cake or not.
Cake Bugs
- If you place a Celebration Cake on the ground and pick it up again, it will revert into a low quality cake worth 220 Gold and the worm farms no longer provide enough materials for it to be profitable. This likely happens with star quality cakes of all values. If you see cakes worth 328g in your inventory, I highly recommend testing a single cake in a worm farm to see how many worms you get from it.
- There is an issue where you can stack cakes worth different amounts into the hopper of a worm farm. Some have reported that this causes the cakes to not produce enough worms/fertilizer for it to be profitable.
Information on each role
Starter
- Station type: Prep
- Regardless of if your blueberries are star'ed or not, you must check off the "Use Star Quality Ingredients" box. This checkbox allows the group to use star quality ingredients, but does not require it. If you don't check this box, the fruit frosters cannot use star quality apples. Most groups will require you to start with star quality berries to make sure you don't forget to check this box.
- Before you start, put your non-star quality Blueberries in locked storage. This way, you can't start unless you check the star quality box.
- As the froster finishes their step, you will be able to start assembling the cake. You will need to loot the cake after it's assembled as well. When you loot it, everyone who participated gets the cakes.
- If you get an error saying you don't have permission to interact with your station, someone else needs to assemble the cake, then you can loot it. You need to relog when this happens. Using other programs on your PC seems to trigger the bug more often.
Leafers
- Station type: Mixing
- Put your butter in your locked storage or delete it before you start. This is so you don't accidentally make frosting or batter.
- Once the starter starts, you are up! Interact with your station and crush 1 Sweet Leaf.
Batterers
- Station type: Mixing
- Before you start, put your Milk and Sweet Leaves in your locked storage or delete them. The menus jump around a lot so the chances are high you'll make the wrong thing if you don't do this.
- Once the leafers ground up their Sweet Leaf, use your station to create a batter.
Froster
- Station type: Mixing
- Before you start, put your Flour or Eggs in locked storage or delete them. This is so you don't accidentally create batter. Locking up your Sweet Leaf is also a good idea just to make sure you don't accidentally crush one up.
- There is no rush being the froster because the frosting is use in the final step.
- Wait until all 3 batters are done before you start the frosting. The menus jump around when some does something so you waiting actually speeds things up.
Bakers
- Station type: Oven
- This role is a free pass. You do not need to bring any materials.
- All you do is watch for when the batterers finish their task, put one of the cakes in your assigned oven, and take it out.
- The leader should give the bakers editor privs due to a bug which sometimes prevents you from moving/interacting when you touch an oven. If this happens and you have editor, double tap "h". This will free you.
Fruit Frosters
- Station type: Mix
- After cakes comes out of the oven, your prep station will allow you to spread fruit frosting on it. Only frost one cake per recipe.
