Category-Tree
Make a link in the side menu for the Category Tree. The extension is already available and I've made a page with it:
A tree for the whole Wiki and one for the game directly.
Translations
If every page in the english version of this Wiki is completed:
- - Every translated page should be categorized in the language-related category → The category tree for any language should be done the same as in the EN-version. → Easy for any user to find pages.
- - I've made a test for universal language selection but first the extension UniversalLanguageSelector has to be installed. Here is a test which work only with that extension.
Advantage: Imagine that page as a sort of system message and look at the ItemInfobox-template: the wording "General Info" could be saved as page like above with the language in use. So every language can update their message in there and could use the original template in the EN-version but showing such texts in the language chosen by the Wiki guest. It's functioning in my own Wiki (currently not modifiable due to a new update needed).
Data economy
Data changes like getting XP for an item or cost values should only be edited once in the Wiki. There's no need to updated every language page with the new data.
How? I've created the template GetItemInfoboxPar the get a special parameter of any page using the GetItemInfobox-template. This can be extended for any Infobox/Template.
As example the page Apple/de gets the data for the values 'value', 'sqvalue' and 'sqfocus' from the Apple-page.
But: Before this can be used every EN-template has to be checked if parameters contain also english wordings like the parameter 'harvesttime': it contains the word 'Days' (or 'days' → next issue). This wording should be done in the localized template or as mentioned above.
Notes and hints
- - Every page (including images) should have one category entry at all (and not only Category:Article stubs from Template:stub).
- - Links to other pages should only be done once per page at the first occurence.
- - Avoid Redirect Pages: Every user should take the wording like in the game itself. They can confuse new editors and mostly not needed.
- - Therefore for a Wiki only singular wording should be chosen for pages/categories because a plural-'s' can be added easily then. Example: [[Apple]]s gives Apples.
- - Stop using '<br><br><br><br><br>' to create a page spacing.
- - Stop using more than one empty line: MediaWiki will interpret more then one '<CR><LF>' as one! Similar for a newline after a new section like '===...===' → unnecessary.
- - When creating a new page always fill the 'Summary' at the bottom, otherwise the whole text is shown in the RecentChanges page.
