Dialogue and Mail

Introduction

A Wish for Maji:

Progression

Upon speaking to Chayne

Player
Is this yours?
Chayne
No, no, of course not. Although it certainly amuses me that you would think so. This is simply a wish letter.
As a Human, you must not be familiar with this custom. All Majiri were created by the Dragon, but our rituals for worship vary as greatly as the Majiri themselves.
I brought the wish letter custom here to Kilima, so the shyer members of our community would feel comfortable asking for help, like our young demolitionist here.

Player
Wow, that's a great idea!
Chayne
I am honored that you think so! But I have only the generations of sages before me to thank.

Player
Seems kind of roundabout.
Chayne
Not everyone here is as direct as you, my friend.

Player
So the Dragon can hunt sernuks?
Chayne
There is a way, but probably not what you are imagining.

Player
But didn't you write this for Najuma?
Chayne
How perceptive. I see that you see, this is my wish as well.

Player
So, what's a wish letter?
Chayne
Hundreds of years ago, the Dragon spoke directly to His disciples, the Majiri. But slowly, his presence waned. These days, he does not speak at all.
But the people still had needs, so they wrote their desires on paper and left them at the shrine. Other people would find them and make them come true.
Player
So you have to hunt a sernuk.
Chayne
Well, I cannot! That is why I wrote down her wish. After all, I do not consume meat, and thus am a rather poor hunter.
However, if you chose to obtain the sernuk, I'm sure we would both be grateful.

Upon delivering the meat to Najuma

Player
I got your sernuk meat.
Najuma
Wow, this is exactly what I was wanted [sic]. Uh... thanks!
You know...Chayne says the Dragon grants wishes. But, like, you're the one who did it.
So I guess, the way I see it... I don't think it should really matter whether it's the Dragon or your neighbors, right?
Anyway, I've got dinner to make. Thanks!

Conclusion

Upon returning to Chayne

Player
She thanked us for the meat.
Chayne
This makes me happy, and I hope it makes you happy, too.
You see, the true wisdom of the Dragon is that his teachings show us how to live a good life, even without his presence.
I trust this experience has made you wiser as well. Thank you for helping me and Najuma both.

Post-Quest

Letter from Hodari

Dear (Player),
So, Najuma turned them two steaks into two tiny fireballs. Still, wanted to thank you for tryin'. So here's a little something from us both.
