Build 0.167 is an Open Beta Update (#3) that was released on August 29, 2023 for Palia.
Hello, Palians!
The sun is setting, and strings of lanterns flicker on with a warm glow. You can hear distant laughter, the crackle of fireworks, and the sizzle of food made with love. In Palia, that can only mean one thing โ the Maji Market is in town!

Build 0.167.2: Hotfix - September 7, 2023
Thank you for visiting the Maji Market and making the start of our first game event a success during open beta. We really appreciate your feedback and would like to share how weโre addressing it.
Chapaa Chase Updates
- More Chapaas now spawn at the beginning of the mini-game.
- 50% more Chapaas now spawn per wave, and with 20% more frequency.
- Increased the size of the spawn zones, and added more of them.
- Added 1 additional Chapaa Chase ticket for every Chapaa rescued per each player actively chasing Chapaas during that session. So if a whole group captures 100 total Chapaas, each player who captures at least 1 will get 100 extra tickets.
Based on these changes, weโre now able to catch around 300 Chapaas per night during each round.
Stamp Card Improvements
When in a party, we lowered the Chapaa Chasers Party and Chapaa Champions Party requirements so that more people can obtain the accomplishments.
Chapaa Chase Store Updates
Added a new Maji the Dragon (water themed) plushie to the Chapaa Chase ticket store.
Bug Fixes
(Update, 11:09am PT): Placing items on the Porch housing add-on no longer causes them to be moved somewhere else on the plot.
Some players noticed that when plushies were added to their housing plot; the color was different from the icon. We have fixed the colors so that they match.
We also received some feedback that it would be nice to add the correct names to the corresponding color version in the store to align with the Chapaas from the scavenger hunt.

During the 
Maji Market Mayhem quest, the 
Mochi Ice Cream that 
Reth gives to players to taste test gives the player renown instead of focus. This has now been updated to 
300 Focus. Our initial recipe for the Phoenix Firework was mistakenly crafting more than intended. Weโve adjusted the Phoenix Firework recipe to the following:

General Notes
We are listening to your feedback on the pricing of food, fireworks and decor in the night market stores and Chapaa Chase ticket booth, as well as your requests for buying items with tickets instead of gold. While we wonโt be able to make changes to this seasonโs game event, we are committed to finding a more suitable range of pricing and currency so that more people can enjoy.

Introducing:
The Maji Market!๐
Come one, come all, to the Maji Market!
Starting today through September 26th, you can visit the Maji Market from 6:00pm - 3:00am Palia time. Every evening at the Kilima Village Fairgrounds, the Maji Market twinkles with the promise of food, fun, and friendship. Watch the fireworks, try the treats, and earn tickets at mini-games like the Chapaa Chase (only once per night after the fireworks show!). And all along the way youโll be filling out your stamp card to trade in for over 50 rewards and prizes, including dozens of new decor items.
Be sure to chat with all the NPC booth vendors โ Theyโll be sure to send you chasing more than just chapaas!
You can read up on all the details of how the Maji Market works here โ but the best way to get started is to jump in and see for yourself!
New Emote: Sitting ๐งโโ๏ธ
After a long night of chasing chapaas at the Maji Market, you deserve a good โsit.โ Access the new โSitโ emote by typing โ/sitโ in chat, or selecting it from the โTโ menu. If itโs not in your Emote selection, you can switch it out by going to the โPโ menu and accessing the Collections tab.
This is not the final form of how sitting will work in Palia, but as our Narrative Lead, S6 Vega says, โItโs a sit in the right direction!โ
New "Found Item" Quests

Weโve added 6 more Found Item Quests. See if you can find them all by exploring, fishing, mining, and foraging.
- Note: As you uncover the Found Item quests, they will appear in the Discovery Quests section of the quest list.
New Decor Items ๐ก
Doorways & Porch: Spruce up the homestead with some new doorway styles and a comfy little porch, found at the register in City Hall.
A new plushie: A certain fish plushie has now been added as a possible reward from Zeki's Wondrous Machine. Can you guess which one it is?
Gathering & Crafting Changes
In Bahari Bay, several adjustments have been made to the higher-tier Sernuks and Chapaas to make hunting here more rewarding for higher level hunters.
- โฌ Increased the amount of Hide dropped by Elder & Proudhorned Sernuks, and Fur dropped by Striped & Azure Chapaa
- โฌ Increased the drop chance and amount of
Sernuk Meat for Elder & Proudhorned Sernuks, and 
Chapaa Meat dropped by Striped & Azure Chapaa - โฌ Increased the drop rate and gold value for Antlers from Elder & Proudhorn Sernuks and Tails from Striped & Azure Chapaas
- โฌ Increased the amount of Elder Sernuks and Striped Chapaa appearing

- Insects now collect in stacks of 30 instead of 5 in your inventory slots.
- (Note: Starred insects and non-starred insects are stacked separately.)
- The
Ravenwood Standing Lamp's recipe has been updated to require less 
Iron Bar (35 โ 25).
- We have adjusted the
Tomato Seed Recipe in the Seed Collector.
- The recipe now requires 3 tomatoes, up from 2 tomatoes prior.
- The production timer will be reduced from 42 minutes to now 30 minutes.
We want to thank player feedback and reports that helped us identify this data error, which was unintended. However, we also acknowledge this is an adjustment that may impact certain playstyles.
Lore
Players let us know that Jinaโs Level 3 friendship questline hid too many secrets. So, weโve added a hint about where scholars โwith a thirst for something moreโ might go. Try chatting with one of our helpful Galdurs!
Housing
We have done lots of optimizations to improve performance for our housing plot servers. Overall, the experience should feel smoother, but this is continuous work we will keep tackling!

- Community tabs on fresh accounts no longer loads infinitely.
- The NPC Gifting Menu should now pop up as expected!
- The text pop-up when collecting Found Items no longer swiftly disappears.
- Players are no longer unable to join/invite friends to parties.
- Improvements to Character Service, making for improved server stability
- Bugs should no longer be spawning inside walls!
- The Back interior wall grid of Main House is no longer very light, and disappears at angles.
Top Known Issues
Localization
Our localization work is ongoing - you may notice some mismatch of dialogue, some areas of the game that are only available in English, or small errors in certain languages. We are actively improving this with every update and will continue to do so! Please note: Our Launcher uses the language settings of your computer, if supported. We will be adding ways to select a dedicated language for the Launcher in the future!
Chat
We are working with a new chat service to better support our growing player population! As we are still working to get this service up and running in Palia overall there may be some ongoing funky, fresh chat issues. We appreciate your patience and understanding! This might look like your Server or Community chats going quiet. If this happens, try sending a message in any Chat - This should help everything reload correctly!

- We continue our work to unblock quests due to early Beta progress reset issues.
- Star quality items gifted through Requests turn into regular quality items.

- Game Events: Maji Market
- ๐ Game Event accomplishments should be viewed under the Game Events Page tab of the menu, but the Stamp Card will direct players to look at the standard Accomplishments tab instead.
Camera, Chat, Social, & Menus
- ๐ The Focus tutorial does not pop up to guide new players through an explanation of their Focus bar.
- ๐ Sometimes players can still send messages in Community chat after being kicked from the community.
- ๐ Tutorial menus may pop up upon login.
Gathering, Crafting, and other Skills
- ๐ When fishing near
Einar, players will have to cast out very far to avoid the dock despite the fishing indicator being blue.
Housing
- ๐ Players may not be able to pick up their main house portion if their inventory is full - even if they have space in storage.
Around The World
- ๐คทโโ๏ธ At the Daiya Family Farm, the front door frame is missing. It looks a little strange but we know about it and a fix is on the way!
- ๐ When trying on clothes in the wardrobe, color swatches may appear โinvisible.โ You can still click on them and get the colors you want!
Chat
- ๐คทโโ๏ธ Players are unable to send messages in the Community channel if they rejoin after leaving.
- ๐ The Whisper Chat defaults to yourself after exiting a Party.
Cooking
- ๐ Players can get stuck at cooking stations, causing timers to run out mid-recipe.
- ๐ Periodically, finishing a cooking minigame will make the UI that appears over other stations disappear.
Friends, Parties, & Communities
- ๐ Players suddenly exiting the game (using Alt+F4 or crashing, for example), may still appear active and in a party despite no longer being online.
- ๐ Unfriending someone sends you an unexpected Friend Request.
- ๐ When a player blocks another player, the blocker is not removed from the blockeeโs Social Panel Server section.
- ๐ Friend requests cannot be denied.
- ๐ When in the Lobby screen, the ESC key and O shortcuts to access the social panel does not bring up the settings menu or toggle the state of the social panel.
- ๐ Playerโs list of โOfflineโ friends is not minimized or collapsed by default.
- ๐ When in the Lobby screen, the Friend Request notification does not appear when receiving a friend request.
- ๐ Players are allowed to send Community invitations, even if their Community is full. Remaining invites will not rescind when a Community reaches capacity, too.
- ๐ Clicking "Dismiss" when receiving a friend or party request will not dismiss the request.
- ๐ Your Party does not disband when there is one Party Member left after the Party Leader, or Member, leaves the game.
- ๐ Players do not receive a chat notification message when someone joins a party.
- ๐ Players do not receive a chat notification message when another player joins their neighborhood.
- ๐ Players who are in the same community OR in the same server, who send each other friend requests, may see location information (such as where one player is currently located in the world) in the social panel.
- ๐คทโโ๏ธ Party invitations do not expire when a Party becomes full.
- ๐ Party members are being accidentally removed from Parties. After some time, a party member will be removed from the Party without any action from the Party Leader. The party member, leader or both will receive messages that the party member left or was kicked from the Party. You can immediately re-invite the member back into the party!
Housing & Furniture
- ๐คทโโ๏ธ There is some minor clipping from the environment through the furniture, such as grass and trees.
- ๐ Interior wall grids are slightly misaligned, and overlap with attached housing add-ons.
Photo Mode
- ๐ The camera function cannot be rebound from the key.
- ๐ Photo Modeโs recent photos and album menu buttons are behaving inconsistently. The โBackโ button does not work, but the โCloseโ button will take you back.
- ๐ Party UI does not appear/disappear if a player takes a photo in-game before joining or leaving a party.
Quests & NPCs
- ๐ For the Learning the Ropes quest,
Badruu & Reth prematurely mention that the player is now ready to speak to 
Kenli, when in fact you should be speaking to Reth or Badruu first, respectively. - ๐ In Private spaces, NPCs are not standing on their expected target points, which could result in you catching Zeki jumping on his bed.
Visual, Audio, & Animation Bugs
- ๐ Sound and music can cut out at unexpected times, such as leaving your housing plot.
- ๐ The "Emote Collection" button appears as a white box until it is clicked.
- ๐ Text in the "Report" and โKudosโ boxes is difficult to read.
- ๐ UI buttons animate correctly but do not respond when clicked on their edges.
- ๐ A visual issue where when playing with a smaller screen size, or in windowed mode, the clothing icons in the wardrobe display covers the "continue" button.
- ๐ Terrain and foliage pop in and out during Welcome To Palia Cinematic.
- ๐ There are a collection of visual errors where items or environments will "pop" in and out of view as you approach.
- ๐คทโโ๏ธ The
Honey Lure animation does not loop properly. - ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Jel's clothing detail pops in and out when approaching him, or walking away from him. - ๐คทโโ๏ธ The floating fishing rod beneath the tavern persists!
Around The World
- ๐คทโโ๏ธ Boxes and sacks outside of
Zeki's shop are missing collision. - ๐คทโโ๏ธ Players can climb an invisible pillar in the Pavel Mines.
- ๐คทโโ๏ธ It is more difficult than intended to climb ivy, especially in the Bahari Bay lighthouse.
- ๐ Stray gliders can be found scattered throughout the world. Sadly, this is not a new and unusual foragable.
- ๐ There are a collection of visual errors where items will โfadeโ in and out of view as you approach.
- ๐ There are areas where you might fall through the world, or get stuck in an unexpected corner. Typing /unstuck, or using the Return Home button on your map, will free you.
