A Date with Destiny is a Romance Quest given by Tamala upon reaching Romance Level 2: Heating Up.

Objectives

Part 1

Talk to Tamala.

Part 2

To prove your love, Tamala has requested you procure her a hard to catch specimen.

Catch a Bat Ray.
- You get the Bat Ray by fishing in caves with worm bait, any time of the day.

Part 3

After deciding she didn't want your first gift, Tamala has requested you procure her an even harder to catch specimen.

Catch a Leafstalker Mantis.
- You find the Leafstalker Mantis by foraging Sweet Leaf and Dari Cloves in the northern part of Bahari Bay, or rarely on the ground.

Step 4

Tamala's next test for you is procuring a silverwing egg, found only in nests at the greatest of heights. Is she trying to date you or kill you?

Find a Silverwing Egg.
- You find the Silverwing Egg in the marked area on the map, on the eastern side of Echo 4, north of the "n" of Proudhorn Pass.

Walkthrough

Upon reaching Romance Level 2: Heating Up with Tamala, you will receive a letter in the mail that starts the quest A Date with Destiny.

Find and talk to Tamala in Bahari Bay. She will tell you that the first test will be on perseverance and that you need to catch a Bat Ray. Bat Rays can be found in caves at any time while using a worm as bait.

Once you catch the Bat Ray, return to Tamala in Bahari Bay. She will tell you that the next test will be on resourcefulness and that you need to catch a Leafstalker Mantis. Leafstalker Mantis are found when picking sweet leaves and dari cloves in northern Bahari Bay at any time of day.

Once you catch the Leafstalker Mantis, return to Tamala in Bahari Bay. She will then ask you to find a Silverwing Egg. An area will then pop up on your map showing the general location where the Silverwing nest can be found.

You can find the Silverwing nest containing the Silverwing Egg on the side of the cliff facing the Statue Garden.

Upon finding the Silverwing Egg, return to Tamala once again. Handing her the egg will complete the quest.

You will receive a letter in the mail following the quest containing Moonstruck Wall Decor.

Introduction

Upon reaching Romance Level 2 with Tamala, a letter in the mail will arrive from her, written:

Dear (player),

I've noticed things heating up between you and I in a way that has nothing to do with spice sprouts. Stop by my chateau if you want me to take things to the next level?

Tamala

Tamala: Am I to infer that your presence here means you have interest in becoming my paramour?

Player: ...I may have feelings for you.
Tamala: Aren't you the little coquette? Trying to play innocent with me, I love it!; I must confess your passions are reciprocated.; BUT I need more from my paramour than just a pretty face.

Player: What's a paramour?
Tamala: Oh darling, you are just a riot!; A paramour is a romantic interest...a lover if you prefer.; And I need someone in my life to fulfill that role, preferably you.; But I need more from my paramour than just a pretty face.

Tamala: I've prepared a series of tests meant to see if you have the qualities it takes to be my partner.; Are you up for the challenge?

Player: You betcha!
Tamala: The first test will be on perseverance. Don't let me down, darling.

Player: When do I get to test you?
Tamala: You are TOO funny!; The first test will be on perseverance. Don't let me down, darling.

Catching a Bat Ray

Fishing Tip
Bat Ray can only be fished in the Bahari Bay area. The most common place is inside Pavel Mines. Make sure to have regular Worm as bait. Bat Ray are also very jumpy! Catching this fish will be a challenge. Keep your eyes on the bobber!

Upon returning to Tamala with the Bat Ray

Tamala: Oh, what a slimy little thing this is! I can barely stand to touch it.

Player: Then why did you ask for it?
Tamala: You know that's a good question, I really don't know. Go ahead and keep the thing.; The next test will be on resourcefulness. I can't have a lover who relies on effort alone, now can I?

Player: Don't worry, I'll put it wherever you want.
Tamala: You can just throw it in the garbage. I don't really need it anymore.; The next test will be on resourcefulness. I can't have a lover who relies on effort alone, now can I?

Catching a Leafstalker Mantis

Bug Catching Tip
Leafstalker Mantis can only be found in the Bahari Bay area. They can usually be found jumping out of Sweet Leaf and Dari Cloves after foraging them. On very rare occassions, the Leafstalker Mantis can be found roaming around grassy areas. Keep Smoke Bombs on hand while foraging resources!

Upon returning to Tamala with the Leafstalker Mantis

Tamala: Oh why did I ask for a mantis? That thing's beady eyes are giving me the creeps. Keep that thing away from me, won't you?; Anyway, for your next test, I've prepared something even more speculur.; I want you to get me a rare ingredient needed for my beauty cream.; One that can only be found after climbing the greatest heights!; I need a silverwing egg. Unfortunately for you, darling, they only perch on top of the highest cliffs.; Oh, I do hope you come back alive. You're far too pretty to end up all mushy...

Player: You want me to risk my life?
Tamala: Of course, I want a paramour who will do anything for me.; I was hoping that would be you, but if it's not, c'est la vie!; I can always find somebody else if you're not up for the challenge.

Player: No way am I doing that.
Tamala: Then I'm afraid there's no way for us to continue.; Do let me know if you change your mind.; I would hate to have to find someone else.

Player: Well, I could use the exercise...
Tamala: You really could, darling. I hate to say it but I've seen you run, and well, you seem a little out of shape.

Finding the Silverwing Egg

Location Tip
The Player needs to search the area marked on the map: Proudhorn Pass. The silverwing's nest is on the side of the cliff facing Statue Garden.

Completion

Upon returning to Tamala with the Silverwing Egg

Tamala: What's this for? Oh, yes...it was to test your devotion to me.; Honestly it was so long ago I barely remember.; I'm afraid to say, darling, but this time you failed.; Next time you'll have to do better if you want to earn my love.

Player: That's it, we're done!
Tamala: You think YOU can break things off with me? No, no, no, mon cherie. That's not the way these things go.; I'm afraid my love for you has already, how should I put it? Flown the coop.; If you want to earn me back, it's going to take more than sweets and nice words.

Player: So you were just messing with me.
Tamala: Oh don't be so crass, darling.; I was not "messing with you," I was earnestly trying to figure out if we're a good match.; Which...I have to say the jury is still out on.

Player: I'll do my best to do better next time!
Tamala: I'm glad you see things my way...; To be honest, darling, with all the pretty young things lining up outside my door, you're lucky there is a next time.

After-Quest

Letter Transcript

Upon the quest's completion, a letter in the mail from Tamala will arrive, stating:

Dear (Player),

I was growing worried about you, darling. So I made you this charm. It should ward off anything nasty out there in the woods...as well as unwanted admirers. We wouldn't want anyone harming my favorite pet, would we?
