A Romantic Surprise is a Romance Quest given by Jel on behalf of Tish upon reaching Tish's Romance Level 3: Puzzling Romance.

Description

“ Tish's prepared a special surprise just for you. Stop by later and see what it is. ”

Objectives

Part 1

Convince the necessary people to help with Tish's surprise ball.

  • Talk to Reth about catering.
  • Talk to Nai'o about music.

Part 2

Now that music and catering are handled, all that's left are floral decorations. Find some flowers to decorate the ballroom.

Introduction

Upon reaching Romance Level 3 with Tish she sends you a letter.

Letter Transcript 
Dear (Player),
Hey sweetie. I just thought I'd take some time to let you know that 
I miss you.  I know you have a busy schedule and I don't wan to put 
too much on you, but I have a little surprise I've been working on 
for you. I'll stop by and show you when it's ready.
                                               
                                                Tish

After reading your mail, Jel is visiting your plot. Speak to him to start the quest.

Jel
There you are! I've been looking all over for you. Where have you been?
Player
Reading my mail.
Jel
Well, I can see that...

Player
Out seizing the day!
Jel
I bet you were. You are a very high energy individual...

Player
You know, a little of this, a little of that...
Jel
I can see where planning this party falls on your "to-do" list.
I hope you haven't forgotten that we committed to throwing Tish the fete of a lifetime.
Player
"We" didn't commit to anything.
Jel
You're right. I didn't want to point the finger, but you are really falling down on the job.

Player
Of course I didn't forget.
Jel
Good. You just haven't brought anything up since you brought me that pamphlet, so I was beginning to wonder.

Player
Don't worry. I hired the clown.
Jel

Anyway, I'm so busy finishing the dress, I haven't had time to deal with the catering, the flowers, or the music. I'm assuming I can count on you to sort out those little details.

Tish is sad about missing the Bahari Ball? Well THAT explains why she's been looking out the window and sighing so much lately.

Understated and elegant, huh? I think I can whip something up.

What would they serve at a real ball?
Reth
I've never been to a real ball, so I don't know, but from what I imagine is that it's a bunch of those really tiny pass around appetizers. In my experience, rich people love tiny food.
I know! I can make all of her favorite foods, just miniaturized. She'll get a real kick out of that.

Player
A meal of desserts.
Reth
You know Tish! She cannot get enough sugar. Maybe it's because she needs to have a lot of energy to build all that furniture.
Anyway, you can count on me!

Player
An entire roasted ormuu.
Reth
Ha ha! I don't know if I can -- or want -- to manage that.
But I do have a roast recipe that will pair really well with her favorite mead. Maybe we can do that instead.
Reth
I'm glad you're making friends with Tish. It's important to me that you two are close.
Player
Actually, it may be a bit more...
Reth (Also Romancing Reth)
Stop right there! I don't need to hear anymore!
If things get super serious, we should talk 'cause I can't in good conscience pursue someone my sister is in love with.
I'm messy, but not THAT messy. Until then, what I don't know can't hurt me.

After completing the quest, Tish is waiting for you on your plot.

Tish
Hey, you, it's been awhile. I was beginning to worry you'd forgotten about me.
Player
I could never forget about you.
Tish
I know it's silly. I just get worried sometimes that maybe I like you more than you like me.

Player
What do you mean? We talk all the time.
Tish
I know...it just feels like a long time. Even if it's only been a few minutes.
Tish
So you're probably wondering why I wrote you that letter...well, it's because there's this riddle I'm having trouble solving.
"I am strong enough to pump 2,000 gallons of liquid per day, but weak enough to be broken by harsh words."
"I can be kept close to the vest or worn on a sleeve. I am part of Tish, but I still belong to you. What am I?"

Tish
You're right!

Player
I don't know. Why don't you tell me?
Tish
It's my heart, silly!

I know this may seem forward of me. But I'd like to give you something I made myself.
