Introduction
Upon reaching Romance Level 2 with Tish, Jel visits you at your plot. Speak to him to start the quest.
- Jel
- A little birdie told me that you and Tish are an item. Is that true?
- Player
- We're figuring things out.
- Jel
- I KNEW it! Why didn't you tell me sooner?
If Player is romancing both Jel and Tish, there's unique, extra dialogue
- If you were trying to keep this from me because you thought it would affect things between you and I, you're wrong. I'm a big boy. I know how to share.
- Besides, when has keeping secrets ever been good for any relationship?
- Regardless, I'm thrilled for the two of you.
- I just stopped by to give my congratulations, and to inform you of the duty you have to Tish now that you're courting.
- Player
- Lay it on me! I'm always trying to improve
- Jel
- As Tish's potential beloved...or whatever you choose to call it -- I'm not into labels unless they're designer --it is your job to take care of her emotional well being.
- Player
- What duty?
- Jel
- As Tish's potential beloved...or whatever you choose to call it -- I'm not into labels unless they're designer --it is your job to take care of her emotional well being.
- And as her self appointed best friend, I can tell you that her emotional being is not well.
- What's worse is, she won't even talk to me about it!!!
- You need to march right up to her, find out what's wrong, and report back to me. Or else, suffer the consequences...which will take the form of a strongly worded letter.
Progress
Speak to Tish to continue the quest.
- Player
- How are you doing?
- Tish
- Oh, alright, I suppose. It's just...never mind, it's really silly.
- Player
- You know you can tell me anything, right?
- Tish
- Of course, I do! Of all people I should know you'd never judge me.
- Player
- Silly, huh? Does it have to do with clowns?
- Tish
- Clowns? Where do you get this stuff? You always know how to make me smile.
- I suppose there's no harm in me telling you.
- I overheard Kenyatta talking about the "stupid" Bahari Ball and how she was being forced to go, and well, I just wish I could go to an elegant event like that myself.
- I mean, I can't because I'm not noble. But, a girl can dream, right?
- Player
- Let's break in!
- Tish
- That's what Reth suggested, but I just couldn't. I'd be humiliated if I got caught.
- I mean, it wouldn't reflect poorly on just me, but it would look bad for my parents. I couldn't do that to their memory.
- Player
- If they don't want you, who needs 'em?
- Tish
- That's what I've been trying to tell myself, but it's just hard.
- I can't stop myself from imagining what the ball would be like. I mean, with the elegant music, the delicious food, and the clothes.
- Oh the clothes! If I could wear a dress like what I see in the fashion pamphlets, I would be ready to cross the veil here and now!
- Sorry for rambling on like this. Like I said, you must think this whole thing is ridiculous. Reth certainly did!
Return to Jel to get your next objective.
- Player
- (Tell Jel about the Ball)
- Jel
- The Bahari Ball! I should have known.
- I mean, frankly I think parties thrown just for the nobility are incredibly gauche. I mean, what is this, the age of kingdoms?
- Please, it's been centuries since the First Council. Nobility doesn't even mean anything anymore.
- But still, I certainly understand the appeal of attending such a glamorous event.
- I wonder if there's anything we can do to lift her spirits.
- Player
- We could throw our own ball.
- Jel
- What a wonderful idea!
- Player
- (Mention the dress)
- Jel
- Yes, I could make her a ball gown.
- But what's a gown without somewhere to wear it?
- Oh, I know! We can throw our own Kilima Ball.
- Player
- Hire a clown.
- Jel
- Why must you treat everything as a joke? Our friend's happiness is at stake.
- I suppose it's up to me to formulate a plan.
- Oh, I know! We can throw our own Kilima Ball.
- You could be her dance partner. We could get Reth to provide the food.
- For the music...let's see. I've heard Nai'o practicing on a lute, and he isn't that good, but he's better than nothing.
- And, as for the dress...
- I can; [sic] of course, make something fabulous.
- But unfortunately what Tish wants is trendy. And I have no time to catch up with fads. Maybe you could do a little digging for me?
Go to Tish's room and read the Bahari Fashion Pamphlet on her desk.
Anyone who's anyone is wearing the latest ball gown trends. Dresses for the Bahari ball should have a tight, belted waist, a full skirt, and ruffled sleeves. Anyone wearing loose fitting garments or bell sleeves will be turned out at the door for being a laughing stock.
Completion
Talk to Jel to turn in quest.
- Player
- (Tell Jel about the pamphlet)
- Jel
- "Anyone wearing loose fitting garments or bell sleeves will be turned out at the door."
- Oh, it's all I can muster not to make the most gorgeous flowing bell sleeved kaftan the likes of which those stuffed shirts have never seen.
- But I will control my impulses...for Tish.
