Walkthrough

Information Needed. Walkthrough Missing.

This quest has the player search for four tablets for both Caleri and Elouisa, 8 total. These tablets contain evidence for both sides.

Elouisa

  • Silverwing Study 125 - Silverwing Sizes - Fish Island | Found near the fishing spot on the highest floating windmill island.
  • Silverwing Study 380 - Silverwing Habitat - Fish Island | Found on a rock in the ruins northeast of the highest waterfall. Come out from the Flowstone gate, jump across to the broken bridge, go up the small ladder, through the archway, and turn left into a ruined building. Tablet is on the rubble inside.
  • Silverwing Study 487 - Silverwing Feathers - Bug Island | Found just under the tall windmill in the center of the island on the north side. Same level as the symbol and large egg.
  • Silverwing Study 500 - The Goldwing - Final Island | Found on lower ring tier on table, seen when gliding over southern side of the island.

Caleri

  • Silverwing Study 399 - Silverwing Vocalization - Bug Island | Found midway up the back side of the island, between a large stump and a large orange tree.
  • Silverwing Study 411 - Silverwing Eggs - Main Island | Found inside the stump northeast of the big nest.
  • Silverwing Study 425 - Silverwing Strength - Bug Island | Found up the front side of the island, at the top of the ladder nearest the Flowstone gate.
  • Silverwing Study 450 - Silverwing Flocks - Main Island | Found on the southern steps of the square building at the top of the island.

Dialogue and Mail

Introduction

Speak to either Caleri or Elouisa inside the Temple

Player
How are you going to prove you're right?
Caleri
Well, I had a thought....
It'd be great if you could bring me any evidence you find around the temple.
Particularly, I'd like any biological accounts of the Silverwing.
They should help me get my point across...

Elouisa
I'm glad you asked, my paranormal pal!
This is my big chance to prove to Caleri that there are endless possibilities afoot.
If you could bring me any evidence you find around the temple, that would be splendid!
And especially anything involving magic, bring to me - that way I can explain it to Caleri!

Progress

Elouisa
Helloooo!
Player
I found a note about Silverwing feathers...
Elouisa
Oh! Do share what it said...
Player
They can heal the sick
Elouisa
They can?! We need to publish these findings immediately!
There are so many that could benefit from this...

Player
They can summon ghosts.
Elouisa
Fascinating... perhaps we can use them to summon other cryptids, too.

Player
The most they can do is tickle people.
Elouisa
In a supernatural way, right?
... I suppose not.

Player
They contain special types of Flow.
Elouisa
So magical... just not quite as magical as I thought.
Great find. Even if it isn't as amazing as I hoped...

Player
I found a note about Silverwing habitats...
Elouisa
Really? Where can I find more of them?!
Player
They usually only live at the highest altitudes.
Elouisa
Plenty of regular birds do that... I'm not sure I'd call it magic.
I certainly wouldn't say they could fly all the way up to space... which I have in the past

Player
They only live in trees containing Flow.
Elouisa
Trees containing flow? Maybe that's why this temple has revealed itself now...
Since the Humans arrived, more and more Flow trees have grown in the vallet[sic].

Player
They live in volcanoes... on the MOON!
Elouisa
(TBA)

Player
They live in a separate pocket dimension.
Elouisa
A... POCKET... DIMENSION?
A dimension that fits in a pocket? A dimension full of pockets? A dimension where everyone is a pocket?
The possibilities are endless!!

Player
I found a note about Silverwing sizes...
Elouisa
Really? What did it say?
Player
Silverwings are all normal sized birds.
Elouisa
Oh... that's... disappointing. I'm sure we'll find something magical about them soon.

Player
Silverwings grow to huge sizes over time.
Elouisa
Hmmm... I guess I was exaggerating a little when I said they all were born as giants.
Still, it's good to know there's something more than average about them!

Player
Silverwings can change their size at will.
Elouisa
(TBA)

Player
Silverwings have skyscraper-sized beaks.
Elouisa
Terrifying! And fascinating!
I wonder how they stand if their beaks are larger than their bodies. It must be magic!

Player
I found a note about Goldwing
Elouisa
The rare and even more legendary Goldwing?! Do tell!
Player
Anything he touched turned into gold.
Elouisa
Ooooooh! Then there must be heaps of treasure around here...
Just don't let Zeki found out.

Player
It's the oldest Silverwing that Humans knew about.
Elouisa
Wow - the other Silverwings must have descended from it.
I wonder if it laid the eggs around here...

Player
Humans painted it gold.
Elouisa
(TBA)

Player
It had the power to breathe underwater.
Elouisa
I wonder if it returned to the sea... maybe that's where all the Silverwings went.

Upon talking to Caleri at Main Island.

This section is under construction. The transcript is missing dialogue for Silverwing Eggs.
Caleri
This place is so... peculiar.
Player
I found a note about Silverwing strength...
Caleri
Let me guess - that of a normal bird?
Player
They can create tidal waves.
Caleri
Tidal waves? Wouldn't they have destroyed Human society?
No no no... are you sure you read that right?

Player
They can lift less than a Sernuk.
Caleri
So they must be prey birds. Fascinating, but normal behavior for that type of avian.

Player
They're actually very delicate.
Caleri
Just as I suspected. The evidence was never going to point to anything else.

Player
They can lift an entire wagon!
Caleri
Hmmm... perhaps that is above average, after all.
Still, not as exaggerated as Elouisa described.

Player
I found a note about Silverwing flocks...
Caleri
Flocking sounds like normal bird behavior to me...
Player
They migrate... TO THE MOON!
Caleri
Wouldn't that blot out the sun?
Perhaps that's why Humans went extinct...

Player
They fly in V-formations
Caleri
Just like a normal bird! Ha!
Elouisa is going to be delightfully disappointed.

Player
They ride other Silverwings' backs when migrating.
Caleri
Uh... what?
That seems unlikely, but I suppose it is possible as a way to allow them to rest without stopping.
I wonder what that looks like.

Player
They don't migrate.
Caleri
Some normal birds certainly display that behavior. That's... inconclusive.

Player
I found a note about Silverwing eggs...
Caleri
Do tell - are what we found even Silverwing eggs?
Player
They come in different colors.
Caleri
That's... certainly unusual.
I wonder what could be influencing that? Some sort of Flow?

Player
They contain even smaller eggs inside.
Caleri
Like Grimalkin nesting dolls? That... can't be true. Can it?

Player
They are slightly bigger than a Peki egg.
Caleri
I noticed, but that isn't too unusual.
Palhawk eggs are the size of a roundball ball.
Wait... do you say "roundball ball" or just "roundball"?
I'm... not much of a sports person.

Player
Silverwing eggs can crack easily.
Caleri
(TBA)

Player
I found a note about Silverwing sounds...
Caleri
Excellent. How average are they?
Player
Loud enough to wake the dead.
Caleri
You sure about that? I think you might have mistranslated...
Humans wouldn't have gone extinct if that was true, would they?

Player
Loud enough to wake the neighbors.
Caleri
Annoying, but something your average Peki can do.
It seems I might be right, after all.

Player
Loud enough to be heard across a valley.
Caleri
So not quite your average bird, but I'm not sure that constitutes magic...

Player
Actually quite pleasant.
Caleri
Perfectly average. I'd love to hear them sometime... if they even exist.

Completion

Choosing Elouisa after finding all the evidence.

Player
That's all of the evidence I could find...
Elouisa
This is... fascinating.
I must confer with Caleri on the subject.

Choosing Caleri after finding all the evidence.

Player
That's all of the evidence I could find...
Caleri
Thank you for all your accounts. I have a lot to think about...
And a lot to tell Elouisa...

Post Quest

Post quest mail

Hello, our Paranormal Pal & Library patron
We wanted to thank you for collecting all that research on the Silverwing. We worked with Jina to translate some of it, but your accounts are the best we have to go by.

We ultimately realized we were both kind of right -
Elouisa's big possibilites weren't completely true, nor was my assertion that the Silverwing wasn't magical at all.

We also realized we may be more effective at researching when we work together. We'll loop you in for our next big search...

Caleri Profile.png Caleri

Dear (Player),
We had Jina translate the documents you brought us, and we have to say we're quite disappointed in you. Almost every fact you told us was wrong in some way.

Can you not read? Were you trying to hide the truth?

Perhaps you were just trying to bring us together, since we're now united against your research style.

Elouisa Profile.png Elouisa

Dear (Player),
I wanted to thank you for helping prove I was right to Elouisa. She hasn't taken the news well, but I'm sure she'll be back to normal soon.

Still, it was nice to see her accept reality for once.

Logs

Silverwing Sizes:

Silverwing Habitats:

Silverwing Vocalization:

Silverwing Vocalization
 «  Silverwing Study 399  »

It's been nearly 15 days since we've heard any word from the ground. 12 since the Lead Scientist finally told us we were cut off from the ground.

Even the Silverwings seem perturbed - they ceased vocalization with each other for the last 10 days. It was a relief this morning to wake to their chatter.

I wonder whether the people on the ground can hear us. Silverwing vocalizations are loud - we've had reports from the valley below that they echo like thunder.

Are the people down there... really gone?

Silverwing Eggs:

Silverwing Strength:

Silverwing Strength
 «  Silverwing Study 425  »

Today someone suggested trying to train the Silverwings to carry a wagon of us down to the surface. The largest Silverwing at the facility is certainly strong enough to pull off that feat, but I fear what we may discover down there.

It has been nearly 200 days we've been stuck here. I no longer see the lights of civilization beckoning through the clouds - there is only darkness in its place. Our people... they may truly be gone.

Silverwing Flocks:

Silverwing Feathers:

The Goldwing:

The Goldwing
 «  Silverwing Study 500  »

The interns have left - only I, and a few members of Senior staff remain.

They took Goldwing, the largest and oldest Silverwing we knew of. I suspect they rigged some sort of cart to it and had the specimen take them to the surface.

None of them, including Goldwing, have returned. I have my doubts that the most recent batch of eggs will be able to hatch without their mother.

For now, I think our study is over. We will persist, as long as we can.
