Dialogue and Mail

Introduction

Upon speaking to Subira at your plot

Note: Dialogue will depend on choices during Quest Icon.png Underground Affairs.
Information Needed. Dialogue transcript missing Earth and Fire responses, plus option for not having Zeki's key.
Subira
(Player)!
...Ahem. Greetings, (Player). Apologies for showing up unannounced, but this was... urgent.
I've been thinking about that illegal parcel we intercepted in Bahari Bay, the one supposedly containing a nightlight.
If it truly is capable of seeing through Grimalkin illusions, then I imagine it would be a useful tool for the Order. Is that why they sent me to retrieve it?
Player
You tell me. You're one of them.
Subira
That may be the case, but I am not privy to the knowledge of my superiors. I simply follow their commands.

Player
They've got to be testing you.
Subira
That certainly is a possibility... Still, I sense something is amiss.

Player
I'm not sure...
Subira
Neither am I. I feel like I am uncertain about many things these days.

Player
Someone's got to do their busy work.
Subira
If this investigation was such low-hanging fruit, I imagine could have sent someone of a lesser rank than I.[sic]
...I am being arrogant by questioning the mission my superiors entrusted to me.
I must dispel any doubts I have and move forward.
Subira
It is all thanks to you that we know who it is that is operating the underground market in Kilima.
I know you and Zeki are friends. This investigation must have put you in an uncomfortable situation.
Still, you chose to tell me the truth. I cannot thank you enough for trusting me. I, too, have learned to trust you quite a great deal.

Subira
Another thing. I discovered the identity of the one operating the underground market in Kilima. It's Zeki, the owner of the General Store.
You knew who it was all along, didn't you? Why did you conceal that information from me?
Player
He's my friend.
Subira
I understand wanting to protect a friend. However...

Player
I didn't trust you.
Subira
... O-Oh. I see. I can understand why you would be wary of my intentions. However...

Player
Sorry, I should've told you...
Subira
There is no need to apologise. I understand you had your reasons. Still...

Player
I wanted you to figure it out yourself.
Subira
I see... That is understandable. Still...
You are an informant of the Order, and a partner in this investigation. It is important for us to be truthful with one another.
Do not be too concerned about Zeki. It is not him we are after, but the Grimalkin cartel that is likely manipulating him and many others into doing its dirty work.
The worst punishment he could receive is a fine, and one of a reasonable value.
I have no doubts that Zeki is the key to helping us prove the cartel is selling Flow to Majiri Palians.
He may be storing evidence of that in a place few have access to... Somewhere like his private residence.
I know this is a lot to ask for, but I would like you to search it for me. The sooner we dismantle the cartel, the sooner Zeki will be freed from its clutches.
Player
You're in luck, I've already got the key!
Subira
Do you? Excellent. That'll expedite the investigation process.

Player
This still feels wrong...
Subira
I understand your reservations, but stopping the cartel will release Zeki from its clutches.

Player
Leave it to me!
Subira
I am in your debt.

Player
I'm doing your work for you. Again.
Subira
Your frustrations are understandable. Do know that your cooperation is deeply appreciated.

Player
Am I an honorary member of the Order now?
Subira
Be careful what you wish for. Being a member of the Order is not as grand as it appears to be.
I have full faith in your abilities, (Player). If there is anyone who can uncover the truth behind this matter, it is you.

Note in Zeki's Room

Mysterious Riddle

I am a guide for lost souls
A beacon of light in the darkness
I am a bridge between elements
Of earth, water and air
Find me if you dare

Upon speaking to Subira about the riddle

Player
I found a riddle in Zeki's room.
Subira
Is that all you found there? How curious... I wonder if Zeki himself left it there for us to find.
Regardless, I have a strong hunch this riddle will lead us to more clues.
A guide for lost souls... A beacon of light in the darkness...
My hunch tells me that it is a location we are looking for and not a person. Perhaps there is somewhere in Bahari Bay that fits this description. Maybe by the ocean?

A Letter in the Lighthouse

A Crumpled Letter:

Conclusion

Upon returning to Subira

Player
I found this letter at the lighthouse.
Subira
A letter? If I may take a look at it...
Player
(Give Subira the letter)
Subira
(Subira scans the contents of the letter. As her eyes reach the bottom of the page, she goes pale and nearly drops the paper.)
This seal... but that would mean...
I am sorry, (Player), but I need to go. Now.
Thank you for getting us this far in the investigation. Please promise to not speak of any of our findings to anyone.
