Dialogue and Mail
Introduction
Upon speaking with Reth after reaching Romance level 3
- Reth
- Hey, fancy pants/sweet tooth! Nice place you got here. Very good for hiding illicit merchandise.
- Boy am I glad to see you right now. Can I just stand here and look at you for a while? It'll make me feel better.
- Player
- Is something wrong?
- Reth
- Can't talk about it right now. Still looking.
- Yup, that's the face of my favorite person right there. Good to see it's still on.
- So, guess who has two thumbs and needs your help again?
- Player
- Oh no, what happened?
- Reth
- Well, I guess Ashura didn't believe my totally convincing lie last time. And after I cooked a whole dinner for him...
- Player
- This is my surprised face.
- Reth
- And what a cute face it is.
- Anyways, I guess Ashura didn't believe my totally convincing lie last time. And after I cooked a whole dinner for him...
- Player
- At least you still have both thumbs.
- Reth
- You're so right. I could have chopped them off in a freak cooking accident ages ago!
- Anyways, I guess Ashura didn't believe my totally convincing lie last time. And after I cooked a whole dinner for him...
- He's been keeping a closer eye on me now. Constantly checking up on me.
- It's been impossible to get my work done, and the shipments are starting to suffer.
- Think I'm gonna need to temporarily change bases for a bit.
- Player
- I'll help you move the merchandise.
- Reth
- One of these days I'll stop being surprised about how good you are to me.
- But not today. Thanks fancy pants/sweet tooth.
- Ashura's watching my every move right now, so I need you to grab the merchandise from the storeroom and hide it for me. Somewhere out in the bay, so no once can accidentally stumble on them.
- I'll meet you at your place when you're done.
This leads to this quest, Cover It Up.
- Player
- I really think you should tell Ashura the truth.
This leads to the other branch of the quest, Come Clean.
Progress
Upon speaking with Ashura at your plot
- Ashura
- I wish I could say I was here for a friendly chat.
- What exactly did you think you were doing by helping Reth?
- Player
- I don't know what you're talking about.
- Ashura
- Please don't give me that. It's pretty obvious what happened- that, and Hodari mentioned he saw you sneaking around in the bay.
- Did you think if you hid everything from me, I wouldn't find out?
- Player
- How'd you find out?
- Ashura
- It was pretty obvious. Reth might be good at lying to others- but I know his tells. The lad's poker face is worse than Auni's.
- He didn't give you up, of course. I had to ask around for that.
- Next time you hide things in the bay, make sure no one sees you.
- Player
- I was just helping Reth out.
- Ashura
- You think this is helping him?
- *sigh* Look. Reth can spend the rest of his life running away, lying to anyone who might care about him.
- But I've seen the way he looks at you- and talks about you. He'd hang the moon if you asked him to.
- Player
- It's none of your business, anyways.
- Ashura
- No, maybe it isn't. But I care about Reth. Something tells me you do, too.
- But he listens to you. He'd hang the moon if you asked him to. I've never seen him that way before.
- Player
- I'm sorry...
- Ashura
- It's not me you should be sorry to.
- If you haven't noticed. I'm used to Reth lying to me. I try not to push him too hard, because I know he'll run away if I do.
- But he listens to you. He'd hang the moon if you asked him to.
- So help lead him on the right path. For his own sake.
- Well, I've said my piece. Maybe I'm just an old man overstepping his bounds... but I want to see Reth thrive here. And I want the same for you.
- ...Here, I brought you some dinner. Lugging those shipments around must have been tiring work.
Completion
When chatting with Reth outside of the storeroom
- Reth
- ...Can we talk in the storeroom, maybe?
Upon speaking with Reth in the storeroom
- Reth
- ...Hey. Wasn't sure you'd come see me.
- I take it Ashura paid you a visit.
- Player
- Someone's in trouble.
- Reth
- Yeah. Think I might have used up my second chances. I really messed this one up.
- Player
- Are you okay?
- Reth
- ...Not really. Think I might have messed this one up big time.
- Player
- It was awful.
- Reth
- He give you the disappointed dad speech too? That one's real rough.
- Weird thing is, he didn't fire me. Even asked me if I was okay.
- Guess I'm the world's worst brother AND employee.
- I keep ruining things. Can't keep my sister safe, can't make anyone proud.
- It's like, I know that I'm doing it, right? but I just can't stop myself.
- Give me the chance, I'll ruin your life too.
- Player
- Sounds fun. I'm in.
- Reth
- Wish I could say I was joking this time, (Player). But I'm not. I'm no good for you. If you stick around, you're only going to get burned.
- Player
- I don't think you will.
- Reth
- I wish I believed in myself half as much as you do.
- Player
- I'm not perfect either..
- Reth
- Are you joking? Compared to me, you're a paragon of virtue.
- Before all this happened, I was even gonna ask you to wear this pin.
- Stupid, right? I'll just throw it in the gutter where it belongs.
- Player 🖤
- Wait-
- Reth
- ...Really? You know what this pin means, right?
- It means I want to give us- you and me, together- a real chance.
- Player 🖤
- I know.
- Reth
- Even after everything?
- Player
- Even after everything.
- Reth
- I... oh.
- I mean, okay. Good. That's- that's good.
- Player
- You gonna ask me a third time?
- Reth
- I might. It's just... you're really sure about this? About us?
- I mean, you can change your mind whenever you want, but just- wow.
- Player
- I thought you'd never ask!
- Reth
- I almost didn't. It's not exactly the most romantic mood. But you...
- I really care about you.
- Sorry, I was really expecting this to blow up in my face like everything else.
- So... uh. Is this the part where we hold hands?
- I've never actually given my pin to anyone before, y'know? Never thought I'd meet someone who wanted it.
- Player
- Just hold hands?
- Reth
- Oh, wow, is my stove on fire? I'd better go deal with that!
- But seriously. I've got to take care of some, uh... work related things, if you know what I mean.
- Player
- I'd like that.
- Reth
- Me too...
- So, listen. I've got to take care of some, uh... work related things, if you know what I mean.
- Player
- Whoa now, moving a little fast!
- Reth
- I know, I know. We've got at least another year of staring longingly at each other from across the room before we reach hand holding.
- So, listen. I've got to take care of some, uh... work related things, if you know what I mean.
- I needed this, (Player). Probably more than you know. I'll see you around soon, okay?
After-Quest Mail
Letter from Reth
Dear (Player),
So, I may or may not have been practicing my chocolate making skills, and I may or may not have gone a little overboard. Then I thought, hey, you know who might like way too much chocolate?
If it's gross I give you full permission to feed it to the fish. Just keep it away from Tau, okay?

Notes
- Selecting the other option in the initial conversation with Reth at the player's housing plot instead leads to the quest Come Clean.
