Creatures
Creatures play an integral role in the vast ecosystem of Palia. While Hunting,
Fishing, and
Bug Catching certainly have their time and place when it comes to engaging most creatures, there are some that can be domesticated, become a loyal companion or even be admired from afar. What follows is a general breakdown of the known creatures of Palia. For more details about a specific creature, please visit its respective page.
Mammals
Chapaa
Chapaa of Palia |
---|
These little pests should be removed at all costs.
|
Chapaa are noisy and mischievous critters, similar to beavers, that can be found all over Kilima Valley and Bahari Bay. True to their invasive nature, they are known for stealing items like shiny spoons and hiding them in their nests made of sticks and twigs.
Compared to the frustration of chasing them around the Fairgrounds during Maji Market, hunting chapaa will seem like a breeze. Just be aware that when approached, chapaa will attempt to run away and, if allowed, will burrow themselves into the ground to escape. For more information, see Chapaa (Species).

Muujin
Muujin of Palia |
---|
You might be in for a surprise if one manages to jump into a Flow Tree.
|
Muujin are wolf-like creatures found in areas of Bahari Bay that are dense with Trees. While the meat can be quite gamey, with the right skill and care, a rich and sumptuous dish can be produced. It is one such dish that was rumored to be the favorite of a certain baron, and possibly led to his early demise.
When hunting muujin, be sure to bring an Axe, because once they are alerted, muujin will attempt to seek shelter in a nearby tree. Thankfully, the occupied tree can then be cut down to flush out the hiding muujin, but hunters will need to be quick to fell the once again fleeing beast before it can climb into another tree. For more information, see Muujin (Species).

Sernuk
Sernuk of Palia |
---|
If you prefer not to hunt, you can get what you need from Villagers!
|
Sernuk are graceful deer-like creatures that symbolize honor, tradition and longevity. As such, The Order is known to breed their own sernuk, a variant of the proudhorned sernuk, to pull their carriages. Sernuk can be found all over Palia, often grazing in small herds in the grassy fields of both Kilima Valley and Bahari Bay.
Though sernuk hides and meat can be used in various crafts, these gentle creatures are often sought after for their prized antlers. When spooked or actively hunted, sernuk will seek to escape in a series of random dashes in different directions. To help overcome that, hunters should come prepared with a variety of Arrows to both do greater damage, but also slow them down for easier tracking. For more information, see Sernuk (Species).

Ormuu
Ormuu of Palia |
---|
. . . Butterball is a total shoe-in. There is no more perfect ormuu in the world.
|
Ormuu, similar to cattle, are a variety of livestock that are common in Palia. They have large horns, long shaggy coats and can produce Milk. The best place to spot an ormuu is at the Daiya Family Farm in Kilima Valley. The young farmhand, Nai'o, is often spotted there tending to the mild mannered beasts.
For more information, see Ormuu.

Riffroc
Riffroc of Palia |
---|
. . . got himself a nice new riffroc! I'll make sure that hooligan gets what's coming to him.
|
Riffroc are large, majestic horse-like creatures with flowing manes that can gallop with incredible speed. Several Villagers are believed to own a few of the beasts, but there have been no documented sightings.
Sugarfoot is one such riffroc, and is known for its love of carrots. Riffroc can be ridden and even trained to compete in rodeos. |
Palcat
Palcats of Palia |
---|
Purrrrrrrrr......
|
Palcats are small creatures similar in appearance to housecats, with the most notable differences being their butterfly wing-shaped ears and wedge tails. They seem to have short- and long-haired variants; the main differences are fluffier cheeks, thicker tails, head tufts, and fur manes. They also come in a wide variety of colors, both natural and unnatural.
The best thing about palcats is that they can become loyal companions to players! For more information, see Palcat and Pets

Kitsuu of Palia |
---|
If you ever see a kitsuu, do not make the mistake of trying to hunt it. Kitsuu are sacred animals in Palia. They are meant only to interact with us as companions and friends, not food!
|
Kitsuu are fox-like creatures with two tails, very large ears, white markings and antlers. Once thought to have gone extinct, most believe kitsuu to be deserving of great respect. Due to their reclusive and shy behavior, they tend to run away when approached.
For more information, see Kitsuu.

Birds
Silverwing
![ChapaaChuckle.png](/images/thumb/3/34/ChapaaChuckle.png/35px-ChapaaChuckle.png)
Silverwings of Palia |
---|
Unfortunately for you, darling, they only perch on top of the highest cliffs.
|
Silverwings are formidable birds of prey who emit loud vocalizations and whose wings are naturally laden with Flow. Their eggs typically come in a variety of colors, based on the type of flow that is in the area. If part of a flock, silverwings will deposit their eggs within a communal nest. They also have an unusual tendency to ride on each others' backs during migration.
One silverwing, known by the name of Goldwing, was documented as being the largest and oldest known specimen. |
Peki
Pekis of Palia |
---|
Pekis sure are cute . . .
|
Pekis are small creatures akin to chickens, complete with wings and feathers. While their crowing can be loud and sometimes annoying, Peki eggs are a breakfast favorite, so well worth the trouble.
Delaila tends to the pekis on her family's farm, often collecting eggs from Petunia or checking what trouble ol' Feathers has been up to lately. |
Fish
Fish of Palia |
---|
. . . Palia's rivers, lakes, and ocean are full of beautiful fish. Many are tasty, and all of them have charm.
|
Fish come in all shapes, sizes and colors. They can be found in ponds, lakes, rivers and, if a fisherman is particularly lucky, on a dinner plate. Of course, if what is caught looks more like a waterlogged boot, well...then that probably is not a fish.
In addition to location and time of day, a fisherman's use of different bait (or no bait at all!) could prove helpful in catching something worth showcasing in their Housing Plot. For more information, see Fish.
|
Bugs
Bugs of Palia |
---|
The firebreathing dragonfly is definitely my favorite bug. Hands down!
|
Bugs can be found all over Palia and certain ones will only appear at certain times of the day. Different bugs have different behaviors, such as flying around areas of water, crawling through tall grasses or even hiding inside rocks. Astute catchers will need to learn when and where their marks lurk in order to best chase and trap them.
Skilled bug catchers can even snag specimens worth putting on display in their homes. For more information, see Bugs.
|
Drakes
Drakes of Palia |
---|
While each Drake pet loves showing off a special trick emote, the Heartfang Drake has a few extra tricks up its wings.
|
Drakes are small dragon companions that will follow you around and can be interacted with via emotes. They come in a variety of colors that reflect the elements.
The best thing about drakes is that they can become loyal companions to players! For more information, see Drake and Pets
