If you ever see a kitsuu, do not make the mistake of trying to hunt it. Kitsuu are sacred animals in Palia. They are meant only to interact with us as companions and friends, not food!

The fabled Kitsuu on the Ancient Rock Garden on housing plot

The Kitsuu are rare beings—not pets—whose presence must be respected. They are not used to human interaction and may run away when approached. (This PSA has been brought to you by Hassian.)

The kitsuu resembles a small red fox with two tails, very large ears, a white blaze down its face, and tall, slender antlers. It is described by Sifuu Profile.png Sifuu as being like "a little plumehound. One that's on fire." She also claims both that her mother used to find them enchanting and that they were thought to have gone extinct around the same time humans did.

Placing the Ancient Rock Garden on your housing plot will have a special guest appear...the fabled Kitsuu.

On September 15th 11:30am PT: A Kitsuu will appear and leave a gift for you! There is no need to offer an item.
This interaction can be done once daily and resets at 9 PM PT(4 AM UTC).

The Kitsuu and the Moon:

"The Kitsuu's Revival"

This is a bedtime story that Sifuu used to tell Hassian when he was a child. She relays it to The Player in the Temple of the Flames during A Catalyzing Caper. The story is depicted in four murals carved by an unknown human artist in the Temple.

"The Kitsuu's Revival"

A Catalyzing Caper Mural1.png

"One day, a young Kitsuu got separated from its parents. It wandered high and low looking for them, util it got caught in the rain.

Right before the Kitsuu gave up hope, a Galdur found him. The two became inseparable. Whenever things got dark, they leaned on each other."

"One day, the Kitsuu and the Galdur were out traveling, and the Galdur was hurt... The Galdur was hurt so badly he... stopped responding."

A Catalyzing Caper Mural3.png

"The Kitsuu cried on his lost friend. Days went by, but he never gave up hope. The Galdur had kept the Kitsuu's spark alive... and that spark endured. Hoping its friend would return. The Kitsuu's tears pooled in the Galdur... and one day…"

"The Galdur woke up! That's why they say the Kitsuu's tears are magical. They represent pure love."

"The Kitsuu's Revival". This may be my best work yet. Such a simple story, and yet it is still moving to see it come to life in front of you. I miss the simpler days when the Kitsuu played outside my childhood home, singeing mother's flower bushes. She claimed she hated them, but never really did anything to get rid of them. Even then, I could tell it was an act - her eyes lit up with hopeful fire every time she saw one. It seems there are less and less Kitsuu around these days. Then again, that is part of the reason we are doing this. To give them a chance at a better future... one we may not be a part of. Seeing a Kitsuu still reminds me of my mother, even now. I hope, in preserving this legacy, I can preserve a small bit of her too.
