Dialogue and Mail
Prequel
Upon speaking with Kenyatta
- Kenyatta
- Oh, you're here. Cool, I was actually about to send a letter.
- So, I think I have to break up with Nai'o.
- Player
- About time.
- Kenyatta
- Yeah... I guess it is. He was always just supposed to be a fling to piss off my mom off.
- Things went on way longer than they were supposed to... and then you came along.
- Player
- Is it because of me?
- Kenyatta
- You wish! You're kind of a terrible homewrecker.
- Nah... it's us. Me and Nai'o. We just don't really mix, y'know?
- He's so uptight all the time, and he keeps expecting so much from me.
- I've kind of had enough of other people's expectations.
- ...
- It's for the best, right?
- Player
- I think you two make a cute couple.
- Kenyatta
- Really?
- I mean. I do still like him. It's weird I started all this for the scandal. But he's sweet, and funny, and charming
- He likes you too, y'know.
- ...Is it so bad to like you both?
- Player
- I'll date him too.
- Kenyatta
- Wait, really?
- Huh. I guess I never considered that. I thought all you Humans were like, totally monogamous.
- You might be a good influence on him. Maybe together we can get him to chill out.
- It's worth a shot. And if it fails, I can just break up with him then!
- Man, I feel SO much better. Thanks, (Player). You're a genius!
- Player
- I'd rather have you to myself.
- Kenyatta
- I don't blame you. I am pretty awesome.
- But that means I'm gonna have to break up with Nai'o. Ugh...
- Can't you do it for me?
- Player
- It's for the best.
- Kenyatta
- You're right. I was avoiding it because I didn't want to deal with it, but...
- I can't ignore him forever.
- And I kind of miss when he and I were cool with each other.
- Ugh. Can't you break up with him for me?
- Player
- Sure.
- Kenyatta
- No... no, I should do it myself. Dragon, this is going to SUCK.
- So, uh, hey. Thanks for talking things out with me. I'll see you later?
- Player
- I'd rather not.
- Kenyatta
- You're right. I should do it myself. Dragon, this is going to SUCK.
- So, uh, hey. Thanks for talking things out with me. I'll see you later?
Introduction
Letter from Kenyatta
Dear (Player),
So, get this: I'm like 99% sure crime's afoot in Kilima Valley. And I was thinking, who would make a better partner than you? Stop by some time and I'll catch you up on the latest.
So, I did it. I broke up with Nai'o. And I think both of us were actually kind of relieved it happened, y'know? I think we were just meant to be friends.
There's something else I wanted to talk to you about, though. Can you stop by some time?

Progression
Upon talking to Kenyatta
- Kenyatta
- There you are! You're not gonna want to miss this.
- So, someone out there is totally attacking traveling merchants and blaming it on wild animals.
- You and I have to get to the bottom of it.
- Player
- Sounds fun!
- Kenyatta
- I know, right? Nothing EVER happens in Kilima. This is so exciting!
- Uh, I mean. I guess it's not that exciting for the victims... but like, no one's died yet.
- Anyways, get this.
- Player
- I'm gonna need a little context.
- Kenyatta
- So get this.
- Player
- Shouldn't we call the authorities?
- Kenyatta
- Uh, no, because the authorities in Kilima are my mom, and oh yeah, my mom!
- Anyways, get this.
- I was studying with Chayne when this guy bursts into the temple, all messed up and begging for help.
- It looks like he's been mauled by a shadvaraak or something.
- We stabilized him, and Chayne tells me there have been a lot more attacks like this around the Bay lately.
- Lots of travelers have gone missing between here and the city.
- It's GOT to be the Bahari Ripper!
- Player
- What if it was just a shadvaraak?
- Kenyatta
- Come on, (Player), that's exactly what the Ripper wants you to think!
- Player
- The Bahari who?
- Kenyatta
- The Bahari Ripper! They're this criminal who's evaded the city watch for years.
- The victim had all the hallmarks of the Ripper. It's totally their MO.
- Which means, the Ripper is hiding out somewhere in Bahari Bay!
- Player
- I REALLY think we should tell the authorities..
- Kenyatta
- My mom's too busy hunting down tax evaders and getting mad about silverware to do anything about this. It's gotta be us.
- Come on. There's no one else I trust with my back. Just you.
- Player
- We've got to stop him.
- Kenyatta
- Damn right we do! I knew you'd be the perfect partner for the job.
- Player
- It's definitely a Shadvaraak.
- Kenyatta
- Ugh. Come on, (Player). If you're wrong, how many more victims will the Ripper get?
- It can't hurt to at least take a look.
- I've got a plan. You know the Bay way better than I do. So I'll check the village for signs of the Ripper, and you'll go look out in the Bay.
- If the Ripper's hiding around here, we'll find them and bring them to justice!
- Player
- Just be careful.
- Kenyatta
- Don't worry. I know how to take care of myself... you watch yourself too, okay?
- Player
- You got it, partner.
- Kenyatta
- After all this is over, we'll go out for drinks. That's what partners do after a mission.
Conclusion
Upon returning to Kenyatta with what you found
- Player
- So, here's what I found...
- Kenyatta
- Oh my dragon. This is so messed up, you actually found something!
- I mean, I knew we made a good team, but you're pretty good at solo work too, huh.
- This is so cool. I'm gonna do some research and see if I can figure out what these clues mean.
- Don't go back out there though, okay? I don't need you getting hurt without me there to heal you.
- Player
- I don't want you to get hurt either.
- Kenyatta
- I'm barely even allowed out of my room half the time without my mom screaming at me.
- Trust me, I'll be fine.
- But... it's kind of sweet of you to worry about me.
- Player
- Ooo, sounds like someone has a crush on me!
- Kenyatta
- Yeah, well maybe I do!
- But still not as big a crush as you've got on ME, I bet.
- Anyways, uh...
- Stop by again soon, okay?
- Even better, come at night so we can sneak out together.
