In the Doghouse is a Friendship Quest given by Hassian after reaching Tau's Friendship Level 4: Bestest Buds.

“

Hassian has come to you for help. Eshe wants to ban Tau from the village center, but Hassian is convinced Tau's strange behavior can be explained. He wants you to find clues to help exonerate this poor pup! Look around the Mayor's Estate, both inside and outside, to find anything that might help.

”

Walkthrough

1. Once you step onto your Housing Plot, you notice an unexpected guest. Talk to Hassian to see what he needs.
2. Hassian will explain that if you do not help clear Tau's name, Eshe will ban him from the Town Square. Could Tau really be a bad boy?
3. Look for clues at the Mayor's Estate!
   • The quest objective will update after doing a quick search. Give Hassian a quick update and he will provide you with more clues.
   • Do not forget to search through the bedrooms.
   • Friendship level 3 is required with Eshe, Kenli and Kenyatta to gain access to their rooms.
4. Bring the evidence to Hassian.
5. Talk to good boy Tau to see what surprise he has for you.

It is Tau. Or rather, Eshe's continued problem with him.

She has suggested a new rule to the Council. One that would outlaw all non-service animals in the town center.

Player

Tau has been misbehaving...

Hassian

I see you have misunderstood him as well.

Player

But he's such a good boy!

Hassian

Yes. He is.

Player

That seems a little harsh.

Hassian

It is an overreaction based on faulty evidence.

Player

Is she gonna arrest the chapaas too?

Hassian

She should. That they are allowed to roam free, destructive as they are-

These things she's accusing Tau of. They're not something he would do.

I have lived alongside Tau for most of my life. In that time, he's shown more wisdom than most adult Majiri.

There must have been something in them worth taking. Tau's never shown an interest in the news before this.

Tau does not dig, unless there is a very good reason for digging.

What about the antlers?

Hassian

Antlers have many medicinal and recreational uses. He must have thought someone there had a use for them.

Tau cannot defend himself, so it falls on us to do it for him. You have been... kind to him.

It... would mean a great deal to me if you would clear his name.

Because I think it would be best if Tau and I kept our distance from the Mayor's Estate for now.

And he must have dug those holes to drive the chapaa out of the garden. Those menaces will destroy the soil composition for years if unchecked.

The only one I do not understand is the newspapers.

(Tau runs off and returns pushing a large box. He sits down next to it and waits expectantly.)

(Inside is a perfect life-sized recreation of Tau in plush form. You have a feeling Hassian might have helped Tau out a bit with making this one.)
