Dialogue and Mail

Introduction

Upon speaking with Nai'o at your plot

Nai'o
Oh, hey. I wasn't expecting you here.
Player
At my house?
Nai'o
...huh. I was just taking a walk to clear my head. I guess I ended up here without thinking.
Still, it's good to see you! Need anything lifted? Carried? Repaired?
I might as well be useful to someone.
Player
What's going on with you?
Nai'o
...Kenyatta and mom still haven't forgiven me for last time.

Player
Your company's enough.
Nai'o
I don't know if I'll be much fun. I've got a lot on my mind.
Kenyatta and mom still haven't forgiven me for last time.

Player
You could do my taxes.
Nai'o
Oh. I could try, if you wanted. Anything to help.
Not sure my head's in the right place for it, though.
Kenyatta and mom still haven't forgiven me for last time.
I really let them both down. I want to make it better, somehow, but it feels like nothing I do makes a difference.
I'm Palia's worst son and boyfriend.
Player
I still like you!
Nai'o
You do? I like you too, (Player). It's good to know I haven't disappointed *everyone* yet.

Player
I'm sure it's not that bad.
Nai'o
You're right... it's probably worse. They'll never forget this...

Player
I know how that feels...
Nai'o
Really? Well I'm not mad at you. Actually, you're like the only person I haven't disappointed yet.
Mom keeps acting the same, but I know I let her down. And I know Kenyatta hasn't forgotten about it.
Could you... check in on them for me? Maybe see if there's anything they need?
I can make this right. I just need your help figuring out how.

Progress

Upon speaking to Kenyatta

Player
Nai'o wanted to apologize...
Kenyatta
For what? I don't think he's ticked me off lately...
Player
It's about the concert.
Kenyatta
The what? Oh, that?
Pffft, that's just typical Nai'o stuff. I just acted like I was mad to make him sweat a little bit.
And besides, he already bought me a band shirt to make up for it.
Tell him to stop worrying about it, okay?

Upon speaking to Delaila

Delaila
Good to see you dearie! Was there somethin' you needed?
Player
Nai'o's worried...
Delaila
He's what now? Oh, is this about that little pie kerfuffle?

Player
Free jam, and your forgiveness.
Delaila
The jam I can do, but what's this about forgiveness?
Player
Nai'o's worried...
Delaila
He's what now? Oh, is this about that little pie kerfuffle?
I've forgotten all about it. There will be plenty more opportunities in the future.
He's a good boy, he just made a mistake. I know he won't do it again.
Now was there anything else you needed?

Upon returning to Nai'o

Nai'o
Oh, hey! did you, uh, get a chance to talk to them yet?
Player
Neither seemed mad.
Nai'o
Really?

Player
They'd totally forgotten about it.
Nai'o
Really?
Oh man. That must mean they're really upset, if they won't even talk about it.
What am I gonna do? You really messed it up this time, Nai'o.
Player
I really think it's okay.
Nai'o
No, I know I'm not good at... talking, and apologizing, and all that stuff. They have to be sick of me by now.

Player
Go easier on yourself.
Nai'o
No, if I let my guard down, I'll just end up disappointing people again. I have to do better.

Player
Are you even listening to me?
Nai'o
They're gonna be even more mad after this. I shouldn't have brought it up.
Think... how do I make it up to them?
I know! But...
I can't ask you to help me again.
Player
Friends help friends.
Nai'o
You're right. And for some reason, I don't worry as much when I'm around you.
I just need briar daisies and crystal lake lotuses. If you could bring those... I'd owe you anything you want.

Completion

Upon bringing Nai'o the requested items

Player
Here you go.
Nai'o
You got them! Whew, that saved me a ton of time.
While you were gone, I whipped up some of their favorite desserts for them too.
Ma always says you can't be mad when you're full!
I'll let you know how it goes afterwards, okay?
Thanks, (Player). I promise, this is the last time you save my hide.

Post-Quest

Letter from Nai'o

Dear (Player),
Thanks again for your help! You really came through for me. I'm not sure anyone else would help me out the way you did. I feel like I can relax around you. It's nice.

Kenyatta and ma don't seem mad at me anymore. I couldn't have done it without you. Any time you need me, stop by, okay? I've dropped a spare key in the envelope.

And here's some dessert for you too!
