Dialogue and Mail
Introduction
Speak with Najuma at your plot about her father.
- Najuma
- U-um. Hi.
- Player
- Did you need something...?
- Najuma
- So this is really weird and you can deny it if you want but-
- Are you trying to date my dad??
- Player
- Yup.
- Najuma
- Oh. That was, um. Easier than I expected.
- I'm not here to interrogate you or anything.
- Player
- Key word *trying*.
- Najuma
- (TBA)
- Player
- Does that bother you?
- Najuma
- No!
- I mean, I... think it would be good for him. To, um, find someone.
- Anyways, I'm not here to interrogate you or anything.
- Player
- Can't help it, your dad's hot.
- Najuma
- C-can we please not talk about how h-hot you think my dad is? Ew...
- Anyways, I'm not here to interrogate you or anything.
- I'm here because he won't listen to me, and I thought maybe he'd listen to you instead.
- Yesterday he was complaining about a sore throat, and then this morning when he woke up I could hear him sneezing all the way in the workshop!
- He's in total denial about it. He keeps saying it's allergies, but I know he's sick.
- I was wondering if maybe you could convince him to take a break before he passes out in the mines or something...
- Player
- I'll talk to him.
- Najuma
- Thank you...
Speak to Hodari.
- Hodari
- AAAACHOO!
- (Player). Didn't, uh, see you there. Not that I ain't glad to see you, but. Y'need somethin', or...?
- Player
- I need you to not die, please.
- Hodari
- What? Don't be dramatic, m'not dying. At least not anytime soon.
- It's just some- some-
- AAAAAAAAAAAACHOOO!
- ...some sniffles.
- Player
- Najuma told me you were sick.
- Hodari
- She did, did she? She's worryin' too much.
- Player
- Are you feeling okay??
- Hodari
- M'fine. Don't look so worried, worked through a lot worse than this.
- Player
- I just wanted to check in on you...
- Hodari
- I know that tone. Najuma roped you into this, huh?
- It's just some- some-
- AAAAAAAAAAAACHOOO!
- ...some sniffles.
- Hodari
- ...Look, I can't exactly afford a break right now. S'too much to do in a day for me to be slackin' off.
- Who's gonna make sure Najuma gets breakfast? Check all the supports to make sure nothin's gonna collapse? Survey new plots to make sure new folks have a place to stay?
- Then there's the repairs around the house, and the ore ain't gonna mine itself.
- Player
- The world won't collapse if you take a single day.
- Hodari
- No, but it'll sure make the next day harder.
- Player
- I'm worried about you.
- Hodari
- I've been gettin' by this long.
- Player
- What if I take over for the day?
- Hodari
- I can't ask you to do that. Last thing I want's to make your life harder.
- Player
- Sounds like a lot of excuses.
- Hodari
- Good excuses.
- Hodari
- If you really wanna help, maybe you can go talk to Tamala and pick up some medicine.
- That way I can focus on what needs doing.
- Player
- No. You go rest, I'll take care of the work.
- Hodari
- ...Not sure I've ever met someone as stubborn as me, before.
- Maybe that's why we get along so well.
- But I, uh. Fine. You've made your point. I'll... take it easy today.
- F'you could help me with dinner, the rest of it can probably wait until I feel better.
- ...And thanks, (Player). Guess I'm not used to havin' someone else watching out for me.
Starts alternate quest Soup for Sniffles
- Player
- Alright, I'll go get some medicine for you.
- Hodari
- Thanks, (Player). S'nice... havin' someone else watchin' your back for you.
- Ain't really used to it, but... reckon I don't particularly mind it, when it's you.
- Better get back to it. Lemme know when y'get the stuff.
- An' make sure y'get it from Tamala. Chayne'll just lecture me about takin' breaks again.
Progression
Ask Tamala for medicine
- Player
- Do you have any cold medicine?
- Tamala
- Oh, my poor, sweet little (Player). Are you feeling ill?
- I'm sure I can fix you right up... for a price, of course.
- Player
- It's for Hodari, actually.
- Tamala
- And here I thought you were finally admitting how much you needed me.
- Well, if it's for Hodari, my services come free of charge.
- Player
- Free stuff? Nice!
- Tamala
- (TBA)
- Player
- Nothing's ever free with you, Tamala.
- Tamala
- How dare you! I generously take a moment out of my very busy schedule to chat with you, and this is what you accuse me of!
- While yes, Hodari and I DO have an arrangement in which he repairs things around my house in exchange for various draughts and tinctures-
- This one is on the house.
- The fact that my roof needs a repair has nothing to do with it.
- Now, be a lamb and collect these ingredients for me, would you? My stores have run a bit low.
Return to Tamala with the ingredients
- Player
- I brought the medicine ingredients.
- Tamala
- Mm, just give me a moment...
- There. Do give Hodari my regards, won't you?
Bring the medicine to Hodari
- Player
- Medicine delivery!
- Hodari
- Hmm? Oh, thanks.
- (Hodari opens the bottle and drains the whole thing in one go.)
- Medicine ain't so nice... but you. Yer nice.
- Probably too nice, sometimes... Always doin' things for other people. Lookin' out for them, even if they ain't lookin' out for you.
- Anyone tries to take advantage of that, you let me know, okay?
- Player
- Wow, you're like really sick, huh?
- Hodari
- M'fine, just... a little tired, s'all.
- Player
- The same goes for you.
- Hodari
- Y'can take advantage of me any time y'want, darlin'.
- Player
- You can take advantage of me anytime.
- Hodari
- ... Might take you up on that offer.
- Later. When m'not sneezing m'brains out.
- Player
- I don't think I'm too nice...
- Hodari
- Y'are. But I like that about you.
- Should get back to work... m'sure the meds'll kick in eventually.
- Where'd I put m'pick....?
Speak to Hodari the next day
- Hodari
- (Player)! It's, uh. Good to see you.
- ...So, listen. I didn't say anythin' weird yesterday, right?
- Memory's a little foggy. Because of the allergies.
- Player
- Define 'weird'.
- Hodari
- ...Let's just move on and say I didn't.
- Player
- You proclaimed your undying love and then took your shirt off.
- Hodari
- ...
- I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I didn't do that.
- Player
- Nope, you were just really nice!
- Hodari
- We both know that for me, that is weird. But... m'glad I didn't make you uncomfortable.
- Player
- Well, you called me 'darlin'...
- Hodari
- I see. And... is that a problem?
- Player
- Not if you don't think it is.
- Hodari
- ...I don't think I mind it either, darlin'.
- Player
- Nope. As long as I get to pick a name for YOU.
- Hodari
- I figure there's not much talkin' you out of somethin' once you set your mind t'it.
- So, call me whatever you want, darlin'.
- Player
- Are you feeling better?
- Hodari
- Tamala's medicine's got a kick to it, but I can't say it ain't effective.
- That said, maybe next time I shouldn't try to work while it's doing its thing. I don't remember much of yesterday.
- All I know's that I woke up this morning in the workshop covered in chapaa fur with a buncha seashells in my pocket.
- Not sure what I got up to yesterday... but it damn sure wasn't work.
- Anyways, once I shook the sawdust outta m'hair, I thought I'd make y'somethin' to thank you for lookin' out for me.
- Here. Eat it, toss it in th'trash, leave it on the counter... whatever y'want.
- Ahem. Anyways, I should get back to it. You'll... stop by again soon, yeah?
