- Too busy nerding out about rocks?
- Hodari
- ...What? Old Human engineering's impressive. Your people really knew how to make things last.

Dialogue and Mail
Letter from Hodari upon reaching Romance 3
(Player),
I'm gonna be around town today doin' some work for Jina and the Bahari Institute. They asked me to survey that old temple you explored behind Phoenix Falls. If you've got the time, maybe you can stop by the work site for lunch? I packed enough for two.
And if you don't got the time, pretend I didn't send this letter and never mention it again, for my own sake.

Speak to Hodari in the Temple of the Waves
- Hodari
- No idea how they made this... ain't like it's infused with Flow or anything...
- (Player)! Uh, didn't see you approach.
- Player
- I didn't mean to startle you...
- Hodari
- Ain't your fault, I was just distracted. I never mind you stoppin' by, darlin'.
- Player
- You look so handsome when you're all focused.
- Hodari
- ...thanks. You're, uh. You look good... too. Look, I ain't as good with words as y'are.
- Player
- What are you doing out here?
- Hodari
- Mentioned in my letter, but Jina asked me to come check out this temple. Seems she's petitioning the Institute to open the place up as a historical site.
- So m'here to make sure it ain't gonna crumble apart on everyone's heads.
- Was planning on stopping by your place after work, but... m'glad you came.
- Lemme just put my tools down, and I'll meet you by th-
- ...
- Player
- What's wrong?
- Hodari
- I... forgot to bring th'food I packed us.
- I was so busy thinkin' about seeing you today that I... must've left it on the counter.
- ..............
- Player
- You like me that much?
- Hodari
- ...'course I do. Have you seen yourself?
- Player
- That is so cute.
- Hodari
- I'm a fully grown man who forgot the whole reason for asking you here. Wouldn't call that cute.
- Player
- Sure you weren't busy thinking about rocks?
- Hodari
- Solid 75-25 split. Impressive as these walls are, you're better.
- Player
- You're usually so put together.
- Hodari
- Then you underestimate how... distractin' I find you.
- Great meal I've made for us today, though. Fat lot of nothing, with a side of nothing for dessert.
- Sorry, (Player).
- Player
- I could fish us up some lunch!
- Hodari
- ...I did see fish jumpin' around in the water down there. I ain't usually a fan of fish...
- But I am a fan of you. Long as we get to have lunch, m'not picky about what we're having.
- Player
- I could see what I can forage!
- Hodari
- Did see some mushrooms and spices around here... that might just work.
- Hodari
- If you can rustle up some food, I'll get the fire started. Always keep a bit of flint on me, just in case.
Return to Hodari in the Temple of the Waves
- Hodari
- Any luck?
- Player
- I brought the ingredients!
- Hodari
- Just when I think you can't impress me any more, you go and do somethin' like this.
- Honestly, when you first came to town, I wasn't... so sure you'd hack it out here. It ain't like fancy city living where everything's provided.
- But I'll be the first to admit how wrong I was.
- It takes a special kind of person to turn a failed date into an impromptu feast.
- Player
- This was a date?
- Hodari
- What else did you think it was?
- I like you, (Player). Not sure how much clearer I can make that.
- Player
- I think you're pretty special yourself.
- Hodari
- Yeah, takes a special kind of fool to set up a lunch date then forget all the lunch.
- Player
- And? What else do you like about me?
- Hodari
- Heh. I like how you know your worth, (Player).
- Which, if I ain't being obvious enough, is a lot.
- Player
- Aw, come on. I'm not THAT special.
- Hodari
- You are. Trust me, (Player). I've never met someone quite like you.
- A-anyways. Looks like the food is done. Here.
- I always keep a packet of spices in my back pocket for emergencies, so it shouldn't taste too bad.
- Player
- What else do you keep in your pockets, the kitchen sink?
- Hodari
- You say that, but imagine if I hadn't kept this packet on me. We'd be eatin' unseasoned food.
- Player
- It's delicious!
- Hodari
- Glad y'like it.
- Player
- I'm glad we got to spend time together...
- Hodari
- Me too. I know we're both busy, but... I'll always take some time for you.
- Player
- Lacking spice is an emergency?
- Hodari
- No bigger emergency, darlin'. I wouldn't subject you to bad food.
- ...Thanks, (Player). And I don't just mean for savin' our date.
- I... like spendin' time with you. Find myself lookin' forward a little more to each day, lately.
- I'd better get back t'work. But this... this was nice.
Post-Quest
Follow up letter from Hodari Contents of the letter will depend on which option you chose to provide food.
Hey darlin',
Saw these out in Bahari, and I thought of you. I ain't usually got time for foraging, but I thought I'd try it out. Anything you like must be somethin' worth doing, after all.
Plus, I owe you for bungling lunch so bad. Maybe this'll help make up the difference.
Hodari
Hey darlin',
Was thinking about you, and thought you might appreciate this. I ain't as good a fisher as you, but I thought I'd try it out. Anything you like must be somethin' worth doing, after all.
Plus, I owe you for bungling lunch so bad. Maybe this'll help make up the difference.

Follow up conversation with Najuma at your plot
- Najuma
- So, did he do it?
- Player
- Do what, exactly?
- Player
- I'm not sure what you're talking about...
- Player
- Was there an it he was supposed to do??
- Najuma
- Yeah, give you a pin!
- Player
- Oh. I didn't receive any pin.
- Player
- Oh yeah, he did it. Totally.
- Najuma
- Really? But I don't see it anywhere...
- Are you sure he gave you a pin?
- Player
- Oh. I didn't receive any pin.
- Najuma
- UGH. What's he even doing?
- I know he likes you. Like, a lot. If he hasn't handed one over yet, he's probably still working on it...
- Okay. I'm gonna go do some snooping. Um, don't tell him I talked to you, okay? I bet he wants to keep it a secret.
- But I promise, it's definitely coming. Even if I have to bug him myself!
Notes
No matter which dialogue option you choose you can either forage or fish for lunch. Choosing the fishing option will take much longer than foraging. If the quest Sea of Stars has not been completed, a lot of the catches will be the quest starter.
