Dialogue and Mail

Upon speaking to Kenyatta

 »
Kenyatta
Hey! It's you! Good to see you.
I don't have to help customers right now, so let's hang. What's up?

Player
Usually the sky?
Kenyatta
...Ugh. I just rolled my eyes so hard they almost fell out of my head.
Look. Either you need me to help you with something or you don't.
So what do you want?
Player
I have questions about my house.
Kenyatta
Just a second, let me try to remember what the new homeowner's guide said... ugh, this system's a mess.

Player
I have questions about my house.
Kenyatta
What, so you are a customer? Ugh, lame.
Just a second, let me try to remember what the new homeowner's guide said... ugh.

Okay. So you got your blueprint, right? Lucky for you, that's not the only thing you can add to your plot.
Just visit the City Hall cash register. You can buy new rooms and expand your buildable space.
It's also where you get crafting licenses, to turn your house into a noisy industrial nightmare. If you're lucky and I'm not, I'll be there to help.
Last but not least, you're now eligible to try for full Kilima citizenship.
Player
How do I do that?
Kenyatta
You have to show your "dedication to Kilima's wellbeing" or whatever.
Usually my mom likes to play mindgames until you accurately guess what she wants... but I'll go ahead and give you the lowdown.
All you have to do is invest in your plot enough. Whatever you want to do, just show you're intending to stay for real.
She won't be able to resist coming by to judge your interior decorating. Don't get your hopes up, though. She probably won't like it.
Now if you don't mind, I gotta get back to my mag. Crime Times just did an expose on the Bahari Ripper!

Upon speaking to Eshe at your plot

 »
Eshe
Well, you've actually done it, haven't you?
You've turned this shabby little eyesore of a plot into something almost... presentable.
It's not... exactly how I would have done it, but I cannot deny that you have put in the work.
I must say, (Player). You've surprised me. That doesn't happen very often.

Player
So....[sic] citizenship time?
Eshe
Eager, aren't you? Very well... I suppose you've earned the right to try.

Player
That was almost a compliment.
Eshe
I will reserve those for when you've truly earned it.

Player
Kenyatta mentioned something about a test...
Eshe
Ah, you had my daughter's assistance, did you? Why am I not surprised. Still, you've put in the work.

Here is a list of the standard three tests. Every new member of the village goes through these.
First, you must prove your devotion to our customs by completing lessons from three distinguished Majiri.
Furthermore, you must prove you have purpose here, by having an advanced skill you can contribute to society.
Finally, skill is wasted if it is not shared. Give to others to prove your generosity is more than well-wishes.
I encourage you to take this seriously. A nice home is no replacement for true skill and determination.
