The Mailbox is a stationary, interactive item that is located on the Housing Plot, next to the Shipping Bin. It cannot be removed, stored or moved to another location on the plot.

Introduction

The Mailbox is utilized by NPCs as a means of communicating messages or shipping items to The Player.

The Player gains access to the Mailbox by unlocking the Housing Plot during the Welcome to Palia quest.

Mechanics

Mail is delivered each day at 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM (Paila Time).

To open the Mailbox interface, the Player must interact with the Mailbox using the key ( on Switch).

The Mailbox interface is comprised of two tabs: New, indicated by the envelope icon and Read, indicated by the checkmark icon. To the right of these tabs is the message window.

New Mail

The arrival of new mail is indicated by an envelope icon appearing in the upper-right corner of the game's HUD and the addition of a glow affect on the mailbox itself.

To view New mail, simply interact with the Mailbox and click on the New mail tab. The names of any NPC that has sent a message will be listed below the tab. Click on the name of the NPC to view the message they have sent.

The message, and any items included, will appear on the right side of the interface. The Player can mouse-over the item to see type and quantity. Mousing-over the NPC icon in the signature will reveal the current Friendship status the Player has with that NPC.

To claim an item that is attached to the message, simply click the claim button to move the item into the Inventory. The message will remain in the New mail tab if it has an attached item that has not yet been claimed.

If there is no new mail, a "No messages here!" note will be present on the right side of the interface.

Read Mail

Once the Player has read a new piece of mail and collected any items attached to the message, it will automatically be moved to the Read mail tab.

To view Read mail, simply interact with the Mailbox and click the Read mail tab. The names of any NPC that has previously sent a message will be listed below the tab. Click on the name of the NPC to view the message they sent.

All mail sent by an NPC is archived in the Read mail tab.
