Trapped in Time is a Found Item Quest given by looting an Amber Fossil from large Heartwood trees in Bahari Bay.

Walkthrough

1. While you were busy chopping away at Heartwood trees in Bahari Bay, you found a glistening amber! What could this be? Find Jina, the local archeologist, to ask her about it.
2. Jina will explain to you what the contents of the amber are. Although you would love to give her the Amber Fossil, see if there are other interested individuals.

You can offer the amber to Auni, Elouisa, Jina, Tamala and Zeki. They will all be interested in the amber and give unique rewards!
You have the option to decline, so do not panic if you cannot decide on the spot.

3. If you offered the amber someone other than Jina, let Jina know of your choice!

This is a unique dialogue option if you give the amber to Auni, Elouisa, Tamala or Zeki.

Player: Hello? Palia to Jina?

Player: Are you going to tell me what it is?

Jina: ...Oh! Right!; Sorry, I totally spaced out there. I guess I'm just excited about seeing a Sunshade Leafhopper with my own two eyes!
Player: Sunshade Leafhopper?
Jina: Yes. Sunshade Leafhoppers were native to Bahari thousands of years ago, long before the region even got a name.; They're the ancestors of the elusive Azure Stonehopper, which live in the fields of Bahari Bay.; They were thought to go extinct around... well, the same time the Humans did.

Player: You seem to know a lot about this critter.
Jina: Only because I have a close friend who's a biologist! I wouldn't know much about it otherwise.

Player: I thought you studied archaeology, not entomology!
Jina: I am! ...Studying archaeology, I mean.; Pretty much everything I know about insects comes from a close friend of mine who's a biologist.

Jina: According to her, the only evidence we've had of the Sunshade Leafhopper's existence were a couple of ancient cave drawings and a journal left behind by a Human entomologist.; Hmm. It turns out that Humans never did go extinct, so I wonder if it's possible the Sunshade Leafhopper still exists, too...?; ...S-Sorry! I didn't mean to ramble.

Player: I can't blame you. Fossils are cool!
Jina: They certainly are!

Player: I like your rambling!
Jina: I always thought my rambling was a bad thing... I guess it's okay to get carried away once in a while.

Player: No need to apologize.
Jina: Sorry, bad habit. I-I mean, sor- er, yeah. Thanks, (Player).

Player: You should work on that...
Jina: I'm trying, but I can't help but get carried away from time to time.

Player: So... what should I do with the fossil?
Jina: If I were you, I'd immediately donate it to Kilima's Natural History Museum for safekeeping... if we had a museum, that is.; If it's okay with you, maybe I could take the amber fossil off your hands? I think it'd make a great gift and a fascinating research topic for that biologist friend of mine.

Player: It's all yours.
Jina: Really?! Great!; Th-Then again, you might want to see if anybody else is interested in it too, before giving it to me. Just to weigh out your options.

Player: I'll need to think about it.
Jina: Sure, no worries.; You were the one who found the fossil, so ultimately it's your choice what you do with it.

...Of course, I'm secretly hoping you'll give it to me, but no pressure!

Auni would probably be interested. Elouisa, too, since she always talks about starting a museum. Maybe Zeki or Tamala, too?

Would you mind doing me a favor and tell me where it ends up? As a researcher, I feel like it's my duty to know what becomes of such a priceless relic.

Jina: The journal left behind by the ancient Human entomologist is a compelling piece of work.; It's a record of their travels across the continents, along with the flora and fauna they encountered on their journey.; What it really is, is an ode to the wonders of the natural world and the beauty of life.; If my memory serves me correctly, the journal is currently being held somewhere in the Ancient Library. You should check it out when you can!

Jina: Auni would probably be interested. Elouisa, too, since she always talks about starting a museum. Auni: Well, I did get my hands on something pretty interesting lately.; I won't tell you what it is before giving it to you, though. It's a secret!

A Sunshade Leafhopper?; They walked, or rather hopped, through our plains around the same time ancient Humans did!; Perhaps studying their fossilized remains will glean some insight into what became of your kind.; Might I take it off your hands in exchange for these joyful little critters I happen to have accompanying me?

Tamala: A Sunshade Leafhopper... How curious.; The poor little thing was probably going about its usual business without any clue of its impending demise.; I can only imagine its agony when it realized it was trapped in the resin, unable to do a thing as more and more leaked out of the tree and onto its body.

Player: Do you have to be so graphic?
Tamala: Such is the nature of life, darling. We all die eventually. Some of us more brutally than others.

Tamala: Hmph. I should have suspected you wanted something out of this.; If you insist on making this a transaction, then I suppose I can spare you a few coins for this. Would 800 coins suffice?

Player: Say please...
Tamala: Don't expect me to play these silly little games with you, darling.; If you wanted a playmate, all you needed to do was ask Hassian if you could chase after sticks and balls with his plumehound.; I can offer you 800 coins for that piece of amber. No more, no less.

Jina: Somehow, I expected that would happen. That explains why she's been extra energetic lately.

Player: Tamala
Jina: Oh, that's interesting. Call it intuition, but I had a feeling she'd be into something like a fossilized Sunshade Leafhopper.

Player: Zeki
Jina: Zeki, huh? I kind of expected he'd be interested in it.

Jina: I-if I can be honest, I'm a little disappointed you didn't end up giving it to me... but I respect your decision.; Who knows? Maybe this is just the beginning, and we'll find even more amber fossils after this.; I'll need to apply for a permit to excavate in Bahari sometime soon...

Notes

Tamala will be the only villager who will not offer Players infinite chances, only 2. Players can only give Tamala the Amber Fossil during the first encounter and returning to her.
Refusing Zeki without hearing the deals will end all options to offer the Amber Fossil to him again.
Offers from Auni and Zeki will depend on the Personality Path chosen during the first interaction.
