Trees play an important role in Palia, as they can be both a vital resource to The Player as well as a means of beautification for the Housing Plot.

There are four species of trees (Pine, Birch, Juniper and Oak) and they can be divided into two classifications: regular and decorative.

From left to right: Pine, Birch, Juniper, and Oak

Regular Trees

Regular Trees encompass all trees that are found in the open world of Palia.

Utilizing the Foraging Foraging skill, the Player can chop these trees with an axe to obtain various crafting materials. The amount and type of materials collected are dependent upon the size and species of the tree. Once a tree in the open world has been chopped down, it will eventually respawn on its own, either as a regular tree or a flow-infused version.

For more information, see Flow Tree Groves.

Note: Pre-existing trees found on the housing plot when it is initially unlocked are also considered regular trees, in that they cannot be watered, moved, picked up or stored. They too can be chopped down for resources, but unlike in the open world, they do not respawn once they have been removed from the plot.

Decorative Trees

Decorative Trees encompass all trees that can be planted on the housing plot by the Player using tree seeds.

Planted trees use a grow mechanic, similar to that of Flowers. This allows the Player to alter the appearance of a planted tree by watering it to make it grow. These trees can be chopped down like regular trees, but they can also be moved, picked up and stored like other Customization items.

  • Oak Tree from Acorn Acorn and Flow Acorn Flow Acorn

Mechanics

Growing a tree is as simple as planting a seed and watering it to help it grow.

The Player will need to have completed the Quest Icon.png Gardening 101 quest and obtained a Makeshift Watering Can Makeshift Watering Can in order to water planted trees.

Tree seeds do not require gardening soil, and therefore can be planted on any land of the Housing Plot that has been unlocked by the Player using writs from City Hall.

Seeds, and the trees grown from them, are categorized as Gatherables and once a planted tree has reached its sapling stage, it can be chopped down at any time thereafter.

A newly planted tree will have an indicator above it, prompting the Player to water it. This indicator will appear each time the tree is in need of water. With regular watering, the tree will eventually undergo different stages of growth. Tree growth updates daily at 6AM Palian Time. The Player can choose to stop watering a tree to stall its progress and keep it at the desired growth stage.

Be aware that planted trees do count towards both the total storage capacity and the 3000 total asset limit per housing plot. So if the Player has planted 1000 trees on a plot, then there is only a 2000 asset limit left for furniture and other customization items.

⚠️#Known Issues

Growth Stages

All planted trees have the same initial appearance, that of a small pile of dirt.

How to Obtain

There are three ways to obtain tree seeds for your housing plot: foraging, propagation and daily reward.

Foraging

Using the Foraging Foraging skill, the Player can chop down adult and mature trees throughout Kilima Valley and Bahari Bay, to have a chance of obtaining a tree seed.

The type of seed obtained will be dependent on the species of the tree chopped down.

Propagation

Once a tree has reached its mature and final stage of growth, it will require a few more rounds of watering to produce a single seed matching its species.

After the last round of watering, the Player can collect the seed from the tree using the key.

A fully grown tree will produce only one seed!

Daily Reward

After completing all bundles associated with the Vault of the Roots, the Player will be awarded the Ancient Galdur Statue Ancient Galdur Statue.

This statue, once placed on the Player's housing plot, will produce one random tree seed, once per real-life day. Daily reset in Palia is at 4:00 AM UTC.
