Speak to Tamala

Player
I found this potion recipe...
Tamala
Snooping around, were you? I thought you were better than that, darling.
Though, I can't say I'm surprised that piece of paper caught your eye. It does have a certain... alluring quality to it.
Well? What do you want to know?
Player
Tell me what it does.
Tamala
Now that is the question, isn't it?
Why don't you make it and see for yourself? Since I'm feeling generous today, I'll even lend you my cauldron for the task.
Do make sure not to damage it, or you will have a very steep price to pay...

Return to Tamala

Player
I crafted the potion. What's next?
Tamala
Isn't it obvious? You need to use it on yourself... by drinking it, of course.
Player
You can't be serious.
Tamala
I've never been more serious, darling.
Don't tell me you're afraid of a harmless little potion.
Player
Who said I was scared?
Tamala
You've gone awfully quiet on me, darling. I assume that means you have no further arguments?

Player
...
Tamala
You've gone awfully quiet on me, darling. I assume that means you have no further arguments?

Player
After you.
Tamala
Hmph. You don't actually expect me of all people to test your concoction for you.

Player
I don't even know what it does!
Tamala
There's only one way to find out.

Player
Bottoms up!
Tamala
As eager to please as always, little lamb.
Now, open up... Wider, darling. There, just like that. Very good...
Player
(Drink the potion)
Tamala
Well? How do you feel?
Player
Warm and... tingly?

Player
So... dizzy...

Player
Like a million coins!

Player
What have you done?!
Tamala
I seem to have forgotten to mention the side effects of this potion.
Just know that everything you're experiencing is expected... and a sign that the brew was a success.
Player
Make it stop!
Tamala
Why stop when the fun is just starting?

Player
What now?
Tamala
It's time we put the potion to a test. Talk to the first five Majiri you see. Any will do, so long as they are an adult.
Once that's finished, you will report your findings back to me.
Well, go on. Don't keep me waiting.

Speak to Villagers

Ashura
It's great to see you like always, (Player).
It's been a while since you first came to the village, but it feels like you've been apart of it forever. Now I can't imagine Kilima without you.
Sorry. Didn't mean to get all sappy on you like that.
Take this as a small thank you for making Kilima a better place. Stop by the Inn when you have time.

Badruu
Well if it isn't my favorite spring bean! Good to see you're doing well.
Feels like just yesterday I was showing you how to garden.
Now you're out and about, doing big things... *sniffle* They grow up so fast!
Hurry and take this from me before I spill it all over the place. Careful, it's hot!

Caleri
(Player)... I've been expecting you.
I have heard good things about you from the other villagers...
To be honest, though I doubted them at first, I can see why they hold you in such high regard.
I have a small gift for you. It is not much, but I hope you like it.

Chayne
It's a pleasure to see you as always, Phoenix's child.
As time passes and seasons change, so do people... but your heart remains as pure and steadfast as it was when we first crossed paths.
Know that I, along with the rest of the village, do not take you for granted.
I would like you to have this as a token of my appreciation.

Delaila
Hello there, dearie! It's nice to see ya!
I was planning on dropping by yer house later, but seeing as yer here, I might as well show off the surprise I've prepared for ya.
...It's me award-winnin' jam! The smell was so sweet that I had a whole family of chapaas knockin' on m' window, beggin' for a taste.
Well, too bad for them, 'cause this is all for you, dearie! Enjoy!

Elouisa
Greetings, (Player)! I was just looking for a bright mind to share my musings with.
You see, I was contemplating our world, and how our existences fit into the grander picture.
Our realm very well may be just a speck, floating through a void... And if our world is a speck, what does that make us?
I will leave your brilliant self with food for thought!
By the way, I just so happen to have this lovely critter who is in need of a new home. Perhaps you can provide one for the fellow?
...Always seek the truth!

Eshe
...Oh. It's you.
Somehow, I had a feeling we would cross paths today. I imagine you are spending your time wisely, like any proper Palians would?
Since you are doing well to stay out of my hair, I suppose you can have this. I have no use for it, anyway.

Hassian
Either my eyes are deceiving me, or you're different, somehow.
Perhaps it is your stronger gait... or the purposeful look in your eyes.
...Ahem. Eat this, so you have the energy to return home safely.

Hassian
...
Either my eyes are deceiving me, or you're different, somehow.
No... Perhaps it is I who am seeing you in another light.
I don't know if I'm making any sense... But just know that my feelings for you remain the same.
...Ahem. Eat this, so you have the energy to return home safely.

Hodari
(Player). Good seein' ya.
...You eat yet? Got somethin' ya might like.
Made it m'self. Ain't the fanciest meal you'll ever have, but it'll fill ya up.
Stop by the house anytime if ya want more, all right?
Uh... Bye now.

Hodari
(Player). Good seein' ya.
...You eat yet? Got somethin' ya might like.
Made it m'self. Ain't the fanciest meal you'll ever have, but it'll fill ya up.
Stop by the house anytime if ya want more, all right?
Uh... Bye now.

Jel
(Player)! Are my eyes deceiving me, or are you even more dazzling than usual today?
It's almost as if you knew I was waiting for the right moment to surprise you with this meal.
It isn't much, but I hope it lifts your spirits.
Do visit me again when you get the chance.

Jel
My dearest muse, you are even more dazzling than usual today. Why, my heart nearly burst out of my chest when I saw you!
It's almost as if you knew I was waiting for the right moment to surprise you with this meal.
It isn't much, but I hope it conveys my feelings for you in ways that words cannot.
Do visit me again when you get the chance, my dearest. I will be waiting.

Jina
Hey, (Player). It's so nice to see you again!
This is kind of embarrassing to admit, but... I've been having trouble focusing.
N-not because of anything bad, but because I'm trying to learn how to cook for myself and it's a lot harder than I thought.
Since you're always doing things for me, I thought I'd make something for you.
I, um, hope you like it!

Jina
Hey, (Player). It's so nice to see you again!
This is kind of embarrassing to admit, but... I've been having trouble focusing.
N-not because of anything bad, but because I keep imagining us having a candlelit dinner together.
Since you're always doing things for me, I want to be the one to surprise you with one someday, so I've been learning how to cook... And I thought I'd make something for you.
I, um, hope you like it!

Kenli
Why, if it isn't one of my favorite constituents!
Seeing you around the village always brings a smile to my face! I do hope you're finding your stay here equally comfortable as it is delightful.
I was saving this to eat later, but you deserve it more than I do. Enjoy!

Kenyatta
Wow. Someone looks different. Did you do something new with your hair?
Here, take this as thanks for making my day a little less boring.

Kenyatta
Wow. Someone looks extra cute today.
This doesn't really need to be said, but I just want you to know you never have to change yourself just for me, 'kay?
...Jeez. That was SO cheesy. What's gotten into me?
This is for you. I was planning on giving this to you later, anyway.

Nai'o
Whoa... Is it just me, or is something different about you today, (Player)?
N-Not in a bad way, of course!
Here, why don't you take this delicious bowl of carrot soup? Enjoy!

Nai'o
Whoa... Is it just me, or is something different about you today, (Player)?
N-Not in a bad way, of course! In a, uh, really good way...
Here, why don't you take this delicious bowl of carrot soup? I made it with you in mind.

Reth
...(Player)? Is that you?
I can't place my finger on it, but you seem different. You're practically glowing.
Don't get me wrong! I'm still Kilima's #1 Charmer... But you're a close second.
Before you go, take this. It's on the house!

Reth
...(Player)? Is that you, babe?
I can't place my finger on it, but you seem different. You're practically glowing.
I mean, you always are, but today especially.
I was planning on surprising you with this, but I might as well give it to you now. Think of me when you eat it, alright?

Sifuu
(Player)! Anybody ever tell ya your smile could light up an entire village? 'Cause it sure can!
No, really. Seeing you always puts a smile on my face, too.
I've been meaning to give this to ya but never got around to it. Hope you like it!

Tish
(Player)! I was just thinking about you!
It's crazy, but as soon as I saw you, I had this super vivid flashback about the day we met. You've really made your mark on the village since then.
...Here. Have this. I hope it makes your day brighter!

Tish
(Player)! I was just thinking about you!
Well, you're always on my mind, but that's beside the point!
It's crazy, but as soon as I saw you, I had this super vivid flashback about the day we met... and the moment I fell for you.
...Here. Have this. Hopefully it's as refreshing and sweet as you are, cutie.

Return to Tamala

Player
Everyone showered me with gifts and compliments.
Tamala
Did they now? Congratulations on becoming Kilima's sweetheart, darling!
Player
"Becoming"?
Tamala
...A mere slip of the tongue.
Are you really questioning your own popularity amongst the villagers? You should be happy they're lavishing you with presents and kind words.
Player
The potion made them like me, didn't it?

Player
They like me, but not THAT much.

Player
I have my doubts.

Player
They weren't themselves.
Tamala
You came to that conclusion yourself, darling.
How would your friends feel if they knew you doubted their honest feelings for you? I imagine hearts would be broken beyond repair.
Just so you know, that was no "charm" potion. All that elixir did was encourage your friends to express their true feelings.
Player
So they DO like me?
Tamala
Obviously.

Player
I don't believe you.
Tamala
Hmph. Whether or not you believe me, it's the truth.

Player
Wait, really?
Tamala
Yes, really. Allow me to explain in simple terms.
The brew brings out existing thoughts and feelings, particularly ones that are being suppressed. Yet you chose to doubt everyone's intentions, anyway.
I was wrong about you, (Player). You can be quite cruel when you want to be... Perhaps you and I are more alike than I thought.
Player
We're nothing alike!
Tamala
I wouldn't be so sure about that.

Player
I'd never stoop to your level.
Tamala
Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.

Player
That's just your wishful thinking.
Tamala
Hmph! No amount of denial will change the truth, darling.

Player
You're right... Maybe we are.
Tamala
I'm glad we see eye to eye on that.
I'm sure you have many questions. Since I'm feeling generous, I will answer just one of them. Choose your next words wisely.
Player
Why do you have a recipe for this potion?
Tamala
Wouldn't you like to know.
Let's be clear that although this is my concoction, it certainly isn't for my use. I could care less what others think about me.

Player
Does the potion only work on Majiri adults?
Tamala
Unlike the average buttoned-up Majiri adult, children, Galdurs, and Grimalkins are generally more open with their feelings. That's why this brew tends to do little to them.

Player
Why didn't the potion work on you?
Tamala
Maybe it did, and both of us simply failed to realize it.

Player
I have nothing to say to you.
Tamala
Suit yourself.
...The effects of the potion should be wearing off, if they haven't already. It looks like the fun is over now.
Perhaps through experience, you've learned something new about yourself -- and those dear to you.
Next time, do think twice before stealing something from my boudoir.

Notes

  • If the player speaks to any eligible Majiri that they are also romancing during Part 4, the reward will be starred.
  • Despite being an adult Majiri, Subira is not eligible for this quest.
