They have a very distinct yellow and red pattern that sticks out in the grass, making them fairly easy to tell apart from the Spotted Stinkbugs and Garden Snails that can also be found in these same areas.
How to Obtain
Bug Catching
Ancient Amber Beetles can be found in the Forests in north Bahari Bay, including the Flooded Steps, The Outskirts, Proudhorn Pass, the Thorny Thicket, and the Statue Garden, at any time of day.
There is also a 5% chance to spawn an Ancient Amber Beetle when harvesting large or medium Sapwood trees anywhere in Bahari Bay.
Behavior
Ancient Amber Beetles are alerted by nearby players and Standard Smoke Bombs, quickly fleeing in a straight line. They do not stop moving once in motion, meaning players will need to aim carefully to hit the Ancient Amber Beetle with another Smoke Bomb before it burrows into the ground and disappears. Because they are quite fast, Sticky Smoke Bombs are a strategy players can employ to slow them down.
